Littleriver Equestrian offers lessons to riders of all ages and levels. As well as holiday programs, schooling, selling on behalf, grazing and agistment.

We have a handful of Pony group spaces for term three!!
Pony group is where riders learn in a small group environment about caring for the horses, how horses think, learn and communicate, catching, gearing up, lunging, floating, riding and more!
Wednesday beginner group -3.30-5pm - 2 spaces
Thursday beginner/Advanced beginner pony group 10yrs+ 4-5.30pm -2 spaces
-Friday adult pony group (17+ suited to any level rider) 10-11.30am
Pony groups are $600 for the term
Our riders work towards certificates and at the end of each year we get our groups together for a show/prize giving with ribbons and loads of fun.
They also have the option to join New Zealand pony club which is a nationally recognized organization with certificates they can achieve.
Riders get access to our second hand rack, library and volunteer opportunities and are able to take part in in-house events and shows.

Our first full day holiday program of July was adventure day!
We explored the farm, collecting toy horses to bring back to the barn. We worked on new skills, learnt about road and farm riding safety, played games, painted coasters, ate lunch and so much more!
A super fun day with a great group of kids and fantastic crew of helpers

It’s time to get creative because our Kids' Colouring Competition is officially open! We have some amazing prizes up for grabs, and we can't wait to see your masterpieces.

100% Kid-Powered: All entries must be completed by the child themselves.
Locals Only: Open to New Zealand residents only.
📅 Important Dates
Entries Close: Friday, 31st July at 5:00 PM.
Winners Announced: Tuesday, 4th August.

You can submit your child's artwork in one of three ways:
Drop it off in-store to see us in person!
Post it to us: Send it to Richmond Saddlery, 430 Paton Road, Hope, Nelson 7081.
Submit Digitally: Send us a photo of the masterpiece via Private Message on our page (link in bio / Richmond Saddlery And Horse Feed Store).

IN-HOUSE DRESSAGE COMPETITION!
New dressage day date is up!
Due to cancellation we had to postpone our last one, everyone who signed up to the original date is still down so let us know if you can't come!

Sunday 9th of August starting at 9am
A chance for riders to step into the arena, set new goals, and experience the feel of a competition in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Perfect for building confidence, practicing riding a dressage test, and celebrating progress, whether it’s your first test or you’re refining the details.
All Littleriver riders welcome, from lead rein and above. Limited spaces
$30 on a school horse/ $25 on your own horse

Starting something new is easier with someone who remembers vividly what it felt like.
With Barn Buddies our young beginner riders get paired with a senior rider, one on one, working together, from ground skills through to riding.
Fortnightly Fridays, 4–5pm. For riders aged 6–11.
$200 for the term (5 sessions).

Young leaders course
Fortnightly Saturdays | 1–2pm (First week fortnight)
Our Young Leaders Course is a 1-hour non-ridden session focusing on developing leadership, communication, and teamwork through hands-on activities with horses.
This course is all about helping kids understand themselves better and grow into confident, capable individuals. Through guided, hands-on activities around horses, participants will explore things like confidence, body language, decision making, and how to stay calm and clear under pressure.
This is perfect for those who want to build confidence, become more independent, or develop leadership skills they can use in everyday life. No horse experience needed.
$100 for the term (5 sessions)
Suitable for ages 11-16yrs

A super fun afternoon at our toddler program today.
