Today we hosted the Triangular secondary schools match, where the top Wellington shots from the two inter secondary schools matches (9 and 23 August) formed a Wellington team to compete against Hutt Valley and Manawatu teams.
This year, for the first time since 2016, Hutt Valley won the match. Well done that team!
Congrats to everyone who shot PBs (or better than they expected). Thanks to all the coaches and other support staff who make these events happen.

We've done it!

Tonight, for the first time, Wellington has won the top division in the NDC. Fantastic result given it was only two years ago that we got into the top division - but fully on par with how we've been shooting this year.
Shot of the day goes to Pippa for her 9. She wasn't sure she was aiming at the right diagram, so looked through her scope to check. Her finger took the shot and she watched the 9 appear on her target. Phew.
Thank you to Marlborough for providing a stiff competition right to the end.
Congrats to Pippa Taylor for her 100, and to Brad Palatchie from Marlborough for a fantastic 300.
Massive thanks to the non-shooters Dave Rew and Uncle Paul Breen who turn up every round to prepare targets (Dave) and act as range officer (Paul). Thanks also to Alison Fursdon who organises this match, and to our selectors Bex Baines and Mark Baines who seem to be doing a pretty good job.

The Royal Tiger range hosted the second week of the local inter-secondary schools match this afternoon. Congrats to Heretaunga College who got the teams win and St Oran's college who came runner up. In the individual ratings, Pippa Taylor won the trophies for Top Shot and Top Girl, and Hester du Plessis was runner-up for Top Shot (she also shot her first 200, yay Hester!)
Congrats to everyone who shot PBs.
The Wellington and Hutt Valley rep teams will shoot against each other at the Tiger next Sunday.

Clean sweep for Wellington!
We travelled over the hill today to shoot the Triangular Open, Ladies, B and Junior matches against Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Some good scores were shot (big ups to Rob Taylor for his 300.23 which included 100.10).
Open match was a thumping, 2952.179 vs Hutt Valley's 2012.148 (edit: oops, 2912.148) and Wairarapa's 2889.127.
The ladies had a narrow win over Hutt Valley. With Wairarapa unable to field a team.
The B was even closer, with one point between Wellington and Hutt Valley.
Juniors was pretty close with a Wellington win by three points.
As always, Wairarapa put on a good spread for supper. Kudos to the person who brought ham sandwiches, and a jar of mustard for those who wanted it.
Unfortunately the Pukemanu Tavern wasn't having its usual post-hunting competition festivities so we weren't treated to the sights of racks of deer and pigs, and pig-carrying races in the paddock across the road. Bu**er.
See you next year!
