Capital Gymnastics is seeking expressions of interest for a six-month WAG Programme Lead pilot role.

This role has been created to add dedicated leadership, coordination and support to our Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) programme.

Working alongside coaches, families, the Centre Manager and the Committee, the WAG Programme Lead will help bring the programme together, support confident delivery, and contribute to a positive and consistent experience for gymnasts and families.

This is a six-month pilot appointment of approximately 15 hours per month, based at Capital Gymnastics in Newtown and reporting to the Centre Manager.

Following review, the role may be extended and the model considered for other areas of the Capital programme.

Whether you are a new member or have been with us for a while, we are very excited to welcome you to our open competitive trials for 2026.

At Capital Gymnastics we strive to create a space where everyone, from the smallest tumblers to the most graceful athletes, can find their place and soar.

We believe in more than just teaching skills; we’re about weaving a tapestry of experiences that embody our core values of community, safety, and fun.

Capital has two streams of competitive gymnastics, Excel (Formerly known as “Rec Comp”) and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

This trial will take place for BOTH of these programs. As coaches, we will then work to find the best position for your child to move into. Whether that be the Foundation, Excel or the WAG space, there is always a place for everyone.

Trials will take place on the 6th of September 2026 in the two sessions below:
* 1pm to 2.30pm - Ages 4-6 (Born AFTER January 1st 2020)
* 2.30pm to 4pm - Ages 7+ (Born BEFORE January 1st 2020)

🤸‍♀️ Competition Season Update! 🤸‍♂️

Our competition teams in WAG, MAG, Tumbling, and EXCEL have been proudly representing our club at competitions across Auckland, Manawatū, Christchurch and the Wellington region.

Our gymnasts have been training incredibly hard, and it has been fantastic to see their dedication, determination, and growth reflected in their performances. We are so proud of everything they have achieved both on and off the competition floor.

A huge thank you to our amazing coaches and judges for the countless hours you dedicate to supporting our gymnasts. Your commitment, encouragement, and expertise make all the difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do.

Congratulations to our long-time Capital Gymnastics member, William Davies, on being selected  by the New Zealand Olympic Committee to represent New Zealand at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

William has been a valued part of the Capital Gymnastics family for many years, and we are incredibly proud to see him continue to achieve great things beyond our gym. His dedication, passion, and commitment to gymnastics have been truly inspiring.
