𝗙𝗘𝗜 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦 | 𝗔 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿

If there is one thing Luke Dee will take away from the 2026 FEI World Championships, it is his gratefulness for having been aboard a horse like Gangster WW.
“I am incredibly proud of how he has developed, especially over the last year. He has turned into one of the best in the world and one of the most talked-about horses in the world at the moment . . . that’s both good and bad,” says Luke.
The horse is now for sale, but Luke is on a mission to keep him. “I am going to fight my hardest to try and keep him one way or another. I certainly want to keep him for our team and the Olympic Games.”
They have an undeniable bond and one Luke doesn’t take for granted. “I don’t think I will ever have a bond like we do,” said Luke.
“This journey is a credit to Fiona (Hall) – she has been on board from the beginning. It was not the cheapest nor was it done the simplest way but I felt if I could surround myself with successful people who believed in me and Gangster then it would create success.”
That included the move to Laura Kraut and Nick Skelton’s stable last year.
It was Emile Hendrix who started to put Gangster together in the way he is now, with Nick Skelton picking up the mantle.
At Champs, they had two stunning clear rounds. “Being able to say we were clear at Aachen and the Worlds is incredible – and not just once, but twice. Even just being here at Aachen . . . what a venue. It is a special place to say I have competed at. It has been an amazing experience here and especially having my parents and (daughter)Freya here too.”
Luke and Mimi will return to Laura and Nick’s for a while before coming home. “We want to build on the momentum and get more owners and good horses so we can keep pressing forward to the LA Olympic Games,” says Luke. “Mimi has been by my side the whole way through – it would have been a completely different trip without her. I can’t thank her enough for that unconditional support.”
The couple are looking forward to getting married in Auckland in March.
