🗣️ A message from Marist St Pats Chairperson, Iain Potter:
It has been a disappointing week for rugby in the Capital, with all referees pulled from games due to ongoing issues with referee abuse. While we will all be disappointed to miss a weekend of footy, the bigger disappointment is the behaviour of players and supporters that has led the Wellington Rugby Referees Association to this decision. Marist St Pats stands in support of the referees and supports the zero tolerance approach being taken.
I want to acknowledge the significant effort that everyone has put into their seasons thus far, across players, coaches, managers, supporters, and volunteers. We do this because we love the game; but we all need to take responsibility for this issue and do what we can to be better as a rugby community. I ask that as a MSP and rugby community, we behave and communicate respectfully with referees, fellow players, opposition and supporters, and call out those that fall short of our expected standards. I would also encourage you to not participate in harmful social media activities.
Let's look forward positively to the rest of the season and work collectively towards great results and a great experience for all involved in our game.
Potts

🇫🇷 Adieu, Théo. 🥹
Théo Bitria joined us last summer as he travelled to New Zealand to experience rugby and our culture. Théo has contributed his incredible photography and graphic design skills to inject a new look on our social media. We have been thrilled to see his work be noticed and pick up other opportunities including with the Chiefs.
Théo returns to France today. We loved welcoming you to our club, thank you for the lasting contribution you have made. Merci

🟥 The Swindale Shield concluded with a ninth place finish on a tight table. Not where we aimed to be, but plenty of positive performances from our young squad. We’ll look to finish the season strongly, starting with Avalon this weekend
❎ It wasn’t to be, our Premiers have fallen to Johnsonville by 10-14. The Trent Eagle Cup remains elusive…
