✨ Mānawatia a Matariki
As we welcome the Maori New Year, we pause to reflect on the year that has been, acknowledge those we carry with us, and look ahead with hope and intention.
This year's theme, Matariki Herenga Waka - For Everyone, feels especially meaningful to us at Tiaki. Our space is built around care, connection, and the belief that movement, wellbeing, and community should feel welcoming to all.
Whether you're spending Matariki with whanau, friends, your community, or simply taking a quiet moment for yourself, we hope this time brings reflection, rest, connection, and renewal.
From all of us at Tiaki, Manawatia a Matariki

Join us this Sunday for Mat Pilates — the perfect way to move, reset, and reconnect with your body.
Mat Pilates is where the method began. It builds strength, control, mobility, balance, and body awareness using your own body weight, breath, and precision. No reformer needed — just intelligent movement, expert guidance, and a supportive class environment.
This class is ideal if you’re wanting to deepen your Pilates practice, improve your technique, or simply enjoy a feel-good Sunday session that leaves you stronger, calmer, and more connected.
Come and discover why Pilates is so much more than the reformer.

Cadillac training weekend done ✨
What a fantastic few days with such an engaged, curious and enthusiastic group of students. The energy in the studio all weekend was incredible — thoughtful questions, lots of laughter, and a genuine passion for learning.
Teaching the Cadillac is always such a pleasure. It’s an apparatus that invites you to slow down, pay attention to detail, and really explore the nuances of movement, control, support and challenge.
I love helping teachers move beyond simply learning the exercises and instead understand the why behind them:
✨ the subtle cueing
✨ the precision
✨ the progressions and regressions
✨ the art of adapting movement for different bodies
The Cadillac offers so much depth, creativity and versatility within the Pilates system, and it’s always inspiring to watch teachers grow in confidence as they begin to appreciate its possibilities.
Feeling very grateful to do this work and to be surrounded by people who care so deeply about movement and teaching well 💚

Mat is back at Tiaki — and our little dose of May Matness continues.
Today’s feature: The Hundred
One of the most recognised Pilates exercises — and one that’s about far more than just “abs.”
The Hundred is designed to wake the whole system up.
✔️ Deep core connection
✔️ Breath control
✔️ Endurance and co-ordination
But perhaps most importantly?
It teaches you how to stay connected while you move and breathe.
At Tiaki, we love The Hundred because it’s not about gripping or flattening yourself into the mat.
It’s about finding support through the centre of the body while keeping the breath flowing.
Can you hold tension where you need it — without creating it everywhere else?
Can the shoulders stay soft?
Can the breath stay smooth and steady?
✨ Reach long through the arms
✨ Breathe into the ribs
✨ Strength without strain
Whether you’re brand new to Pilates or refining the foundations — this is one not to miss.

So I’ve been experimenting with some Meta advertising lately.
Apparently adding AI-generated images can boost results… so I thought why not, let’s be modern and give it a go.
And this is what it created.
Not bad of me I guess (pretty clever actually)…
But can we please talk about Elliott’s pelvis?? 🤨
For those who don’t know, Elliott is my teaching skeleton.
And let’s just say… his pelvis has definitely not passed a pelvic health physio assessment.
AI still has a bit to learn 😂
