What a month of golf ! New players, couples, friends, four decades of ages, four beautiful courses, and a whole lot of heart. Congratulations to our winners and to every single person who showed up, learned, laughed, and played their way through winter.
This is truly Golf For All. Mā te wā 💚
This from Karly and Matt:
“Hi Mary, we had a wonderful time doing the tournament series with you. Great to visit all the different courses and meet lovely easy going people. Our team was great!! Loved Comps patties!
Thanks for organising such a great event. See you next time!”😊
I’m now looking to:
• take a break
• have some family time 😘
• and work behind the scenes with the Golf Clubs/Courses for the New Season ⛳

June Series #4 @ Levin – The perfect course to finish on ⛳
Super friendly, nice and flat, with an easy zig zagging front 9 that brings everyone back to the clubhouse — Levin was the ideal finale for our June Series. Our biggest field yet, with two teams teeing off most holes, and a warm welcome to our combo Kapiti/Levin team joining us today.😊
Final tally + overall Stableford winners Sue takes out the overall women’s title with an impressive 19 point average over the four rounds.🏆 For the men, it was a real nail biter — only 3 points separating 1st, 2nd and 3rd going into today. Ross started with a 3 point lead, but Darren stormed home with a solid round today to take the overall win with a 16.5point average across the series.🏆 Martin took out gross for the series averaging 46 shots per round.🏌️🏆
With seven couples in the field today (many split across different teams!), it made me look back over our Spring 2025 and Autumn 2026 New Player Programmes — 14 couples took part this season, making up 33% of players. Truly Golf For All, spanning five decades of ages. Hoorah! 😄
Back to the tally up! Every team in each division picked up a win across the four tournaments — how cool is that? And our Alt Hole Format teams were stars. By the second tournament at Wainui, they had the scoring system completely sussed. Two comps in one round is no small feat!
It all came down to today to decide the Alt Format champions… Congratulations to Team Sarah (Richard stepping in for Kate) and Bre! 🎗️🎗️🎗️🎗️
We’ve had so many lovely comments about how much people have enjoyed the series. This one from JulieAnne last week sums it up beautifully:
“Mary, thanks for this competition. I’m loving every minute of it — making new friends, getting out in the fresh air, and seeing my golf game come together. I’ve officially caught the bug.”
Happy golfing everyone, and thank you for taking the plunge — in the middle of winter — to embrace the game in every way.⛳

June Series #3 ⛳️
Breathtaking views !
From the concourse we had a beautiful view across the whole course — perfect for teams to get a feel for the layout and head easily to their starting holes.
We were incredibly lucky with timing… every team was through 9 holes and back to base by 4:45pm, just before the rain bucketed down after 5! 🙌
Comp’s rissoles on the BBQ were a hit, and players absolutely loved being out on the course. A few stray balls met their match in the creek crossing a couple of fairways 😅 .
Our Nearest to the Pin was a very close , with four players landing on the green! Congrats to Sue, who claimed it this week 👏
A little wet heading back to the cars, but plenty of smiles and buzzing energy all around.
Roll on Levin this Sunday! 💚
June Series #2 @ Wainui ⛳️
We had a fantastic afternoon at Wainui! With Club Champs in full swing 🏆the course was buzzing, but we were able to slot into the Front 9 during the afternoon. A huge thank you to the members who were so welcoming and happy to work us in.
The clubrooms were full of energy afterwards, and the scores were incredibly close. Every team got their cards sorted, and the alternate holes format made for some great competition and plenty of fun.
A special shout-out to JulieAnne, who took out Closest to the Pin on the 2nd 🎯. An amazing achievement, especially as she's brand new to golf this season — go JulieAnne!
Looking forward to doing it all again at Morgan's next week.

June Series Tournament #1 - what a start.
⛳️Four divisions, stablefords, mixed and new player Speedy Ambrose teams, and our crazy inventive Alternate Holes format.
Closest to the pin, a quiz, fun prizes… and a collective phew when the gas bottle decided to throw a tantrum. Luckily the kitchen grill came to the rescue.
What’s even better? 90% of our players are signed up for all four tournaments. The Sunday afternoon golf bug is well and truly alive.
And today’s field was special: 63% of teams were only two months out of our 8 week training programme, and they’re competing across every division.! Ka pai .💪
In the Alternate Holes format, all but one player came straight from the Summer–Autumn 2026 programmes. I’ve given myself a scoring challenge with that division,🤓 but they’ll have it sussed by Wainui next week.
Bring on next Sunday — more fun, more challenge, more great golf.⛳️
Teams in action at Trentham — June Series energy is officially on !
⛳️- swings, putts, and teams getting stuck in at Trentham.
The June series is nearly here⛳️
These are our fabulous courses we will be playing on 🏌♀️Thanks for joining in !

Thanks, Congratulations… and What’s Ahead! ⛳️
Thank you to all the wonderful 2025 crews who embraced the MG Programmes across summer, autumn and spring.💥 Your enthusiasm, commitment and joy for the game have played a huge part in growing women’s golf across our region.
And… a little personal celebration. I’m honoured to be named a finalist at the 2025 National Golf Awards for "Contribution to the Growth of Women’s Golf ". A special thank you to Steve at Mornington for putting forward the nomination, and to Dennis and Gareth for their outstanding endorsements. I’m also thinking fondly of those eight big years at Paraparaumu Beach- the early days of growing junior girls’ golf. A very special chapter- Thanks coaches for your dedication.
What’s ahead ? Our June Tournament Series is FULLY BOOKED! Four divisions, fun formats, and a great mix of our newest players from 2025/2026 and a lovely group of our treasured “originals”
See you all soon Mary 😊
