Snowcraft 1 2026!
[late post] We had an awesome time on Ruapehu doing our basic snowcraft skills course! Had incredible weather, blue skies, amazing snow, it was sunnier than Wellington for sure! After 2 full days of training we had our usual evenings of beer and sock wrestling and a great weekend together. 🏔️🐑

Dear Welly Club Quizers, you helped us raise over $7,000 for Land Search and Rescue Wellington! From all of us at WTMC, NZAC and VUWTC, THANK YOU.
To our winning teams ETC, LandSAR Alpha and Quizdorfer Luxon, to Rob Tiu for winning the special LandSAR raffle and to everyone with a winning raffle ticket, CONGRATULATIONS! Epic effort, we hope you enjoyed your winning prizes.
Every penny you helped raise goes a long way in supporting LandSAR Wellington in their rescue operations. We deeply appreciate the volunteer work they do and are honoured to support them with all the proceeds from the quiz.
Another big thank you to all our amazing and generous sponsors, Coffee Outdoors (our anchor sponsor), Bivouac Outdoor, Back Country Cuisine, Kea Outdoors, Intents Outdoors, On Mountain, Earth Sea Sky, Wilderness Magazine, Canterbury Biltong/Bootleg Biltong, Faultline and Hangdog Climbing Gyms, Mountain Adventure, The Crafty Weka, Zealandia, Further Faster, Real Meals, and The New Zealand Alpine Club.
We hope you enjoyed being part of the quiz as much as we enjoyed putting it together. Keep exploring the outdoors and we’ll see you next time!

WELCOME TO OUR NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS!!
Unfortunately, we have had 4 committee members have to step down from their roles due to various personal reasons. Luckily we have had some AMAZING new committee members elected during our SGM to fill those roles until October when our committee for next year will be entirely re-elected!
Welcome Lucy, Gem, Sonia and Max!
The website has now been updated with their contact details.

Much of the Tararua and Aorangi forest parks are located in the Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve, making them great for stargazing.
4 trampers and packs staying overnight at Atiwhakatu hut thus squeezed into a small car with a large telescope! 🔭
All 26 bunks were booked so it was busy! We bumped into a friend of VUWTC from Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ. We also delivered an orange bucket for the Greater Wellington Backcountry Network, an initiative making maintenance supplies more accessible for hut users 🙂

fourteen punters, a combined 10 hours of driving, ginger feral possums, the mighty mohaka river, amazing mineral hot pools potentially containing brain eating amoebas, and one handsome pilot. All make for a great way to spend a weekend!
Over the Weekend, 14 punters went to Mangatutu hotsprings to get away from the cold welly blues. All cars made it (bar the odd spin out) and the punters had a lovely time tramping through the scenic Kawekas along the Mohaka river. Lots of time was spent faffing in hot springs and taking cute pictures.
All in all, a really chill trip that I would recommend to anyone.🌈
