Very apt that two of our life members took out the trophy. Wyndham Barkman & Brian Collinson won the comp of the day, and also won the Lifers Trophy on countback.

Exciting work is underway with the construction of a new 19th hole.
As part of the early stages of the Phil Tataurangi Masterplan, the Board has approved the construction of an additional hole to help ensure golfers can continue to enjoy 18 holes of golf during future course works and disruption.
The new hole will play from the old Yellow 10th tee area towards the pump shed and 11th green. Early construction work for the new green is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of September, ready for play from approximately April 2027.
The 19th hole will provide greater flexibility and certainty around maintaining 18-hole play if further changes from the Masterplan are approved.
The above image is an early sketch and digitised render on what the green might look like.
Watch this space as the new 19th takes shape. ⛳
Please note: The final Phil Tataurangi Masterplan is still being progressed and not yet approved by the Board. With spring approaching, it is the ideal time to start work and plant out the green, and implemented with potential issues & challenges on the 9th hole in mind.

A new peanut-shaped double roundabout is officially on the way for the Golf Course Road/Ballantyne Road intersection.
Designed specifically for offset junctions, the upgrade aims to fix long-standing congestion, allowing for the new road into Three Parks along the 18th boundary, increase overall safety/slower speeds and include underground infrastructure and a retaining wall along the 9th green.
From a Wanaka Golf Club perspective, the project stays mostly within the Road Reserve (except a small encroachment near the B9 entrance).
Unfortunately the fence to the right of the 9th green is not on the true boundary, and will be realigned accordingly, coming inwards towards to green. Further details can be seen on the following link: https://wanakagolf.co.nz/club/newsletters-results/
The large pine trees along the fence line and near the 9th green will remain intact with the project. However these are not on golf club land and likely have a limited lifespan.
Phil Tataurangi is advising the club under current Masterplan process, with potential longer-term changes to the 9th hole to meet Health & Safety requirements.
Construction could begin as early as late September 2026, replacing the temporary painted circle from 2024, with overall project completion expected by May.

Well done to our members representing Wanaka over the weekend.
In Presidents pennants, our team continued their strong start to the season, drawing away at Lake Hāwea. Not very often we share the spoils playing away! The team remains unbeaten, having played mainly away so far.
In the Otago Champion of Champions at Alexandra, our team of Raphael Anderson, Mike Plummer & Darrin Brown finished 2nd in the gross, 4 shots behind winners Taieri. Well done guys!! 👍
