🏆 What a Weekend for Waiuku Netball Centre! 🏆

Our Under 14 and Under 16 representative teams travelled to Taranaki over the weekend to compete at the North Island Junior Netball Championships, taking on some of the best young netballers from across the North Island.

A huge congratulations to our Under 14 team, who were crowned Division B Champions after an outstanding tournament! 🎉 Their hard work, determination and teamwork paid off, earning them promotion to Division A for the 2027 North Island Junior Netball Championships. An incredible achievement and one the whole Waiuku community can be proud of.

Our Under 16 team also represented Waiuku with pride, showing great determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. Every game provided valuable experience that will continue to support their development as representative players.

A huge thank you to our coaches, managers, umpires, families and supporters for everything you did to make the weekend possible.

The representative season isn't over yet! Next up, our teams will compete at the Counties Manukau Intercentre Tournament on Sunday 26th July in Papakura, before hosting the annual Waiuku vs Pukekohe Representative Challenge on Monday 3rd August at Waiuku Netball Centre.

Congratulations to all our players. You represented Waiuku Netball Centre with pride, and we can't wait to see what you achieve over the rest of the representative season! 💚🖤

🎉 Congratulations to Tyler Campbell on her appointment to the Netball New Zealand Youth Board!

Tyler, is a passionate volunteer who wears many hats as Vice President of Junior Clubs at our Centre and leads our FutureFERNS, PDP and Twilight programmes. Alongside working full-time as an accountant and studying towards becoming a Chartered Accountant, Tyler is dedicated to coaching, umpiring and creating inclusive opportunities for young people in netball.

We're incredibly proud of this well-deserved achievement and know Tyler will be a fantastic advocate for youth, helping shape the future of netball across Aotearoa.

🏐 RULE OF THE WEEK | Playing the Ball 🏐

This week's rule is all about Playing the Ball – one of the fundamental rules of netball!

✅ Remember:
• The ball can only be played with your hands.
• Catch, pass, throw or shoot with control.
• Stay on your feet and play within the rules.

❌ Not allowed:
• Kicking the ball.
• Striking the ball with a fist.
• Rolling the ball to another player.
• Passing or shooting while sitting, kneeling or lying on the ground.
• Falling on the ball to gain possession.
• Using the goal post for support.

Understanding the rules helps create a safe, fair and enjoyable game for everyone. 💗
