Outstanding win against one of the tournament’s top-seeded teams!

CHB College has claimed a huge 86-65 victory to go top equal of the pool.

Hayden Hemi and Alten Piluden were simply on fire, leading the way with outstanding performances, but this was a true team effort from start to finish. The boys played with intensity, composure, and determination, stepping up when it mattered most against quality opposition.

A fantastic result and a well-deserved reward for the hard work put in by the entire squad.

CHB College take a 57–48 lead into the final quarter!

What a great quarter from the boys! 💪🏽 They’ve lifted the intensity and are playing some fantastic basketball.

This game is super fast-paced, with both teams showing great skill, athleticism and determination. 🔥🏀

Halftime Update

CHB College lead 40–39 at halftime in a hard-fought contest.

The boys are locked in a tough, physical battle that has featured several momentum swings throughout the first half. Neither team has been able to create much separation on the scoreboard, with CHB holding a narrow one-point advantage at the break.

With intensity high on both ends of the floor, the second half is shaping up to be a thrilling finish. The key for CHB will be staying composed, matching the physicality, and capitalising on their opportunities down the stretch.

A strong start from the team in what is shaping up to be a competitive contest. Plenty of intensity at both ends of the court as CHB take a narrow three-point advantage into the second quarter.

A great start to the tournament for the team, coming away with a convincing first-up victory. Despite a clunky game the boys were able to share the minutes with all 12 players contributing on the court.

The Hawke's Bay Basketball competition finished this week with CHBC producing some excellent final placings.

The Senior Gold Team had a tricky start to the season but turned things around and went on a great run. They made it to the semi-finals where they had a close loss against Napier Boys but came away with the bronze medal, finishing 3rd in the premier division.

The Junior Gold Team had a very strong season throughout and finished in second place in the table. The had a close loss against St. Johns in the semi-final but then came away with a victory in their 3rd place match and also came away with the bronze medal.

The Junior Girls Gold Team only lost one match in their league, finishing second in their league. They made it to the grand final but unfortunately lost against Napier Girls. They finished an outstanding season with 2nd place and the silver medal.

All three competitive teams were playing in the top divisions in the Hawke's Bay schools competition and have been an asset to CHBC. They consistently played with determination and humility and have proven (once again) that little ol'CHBC can compete with the bigger schools in Hastings and Napier.

A huge thanks goes to our dedicated coaches - Richard Galbraith, Russ Kupa, Matt Hemi, Eladio Mananes and Calvin Waikato - who have travelled back and forth many times over the last few months. Also a shout out to other parents who have helped drive the vans during the season. And of course, a big thank goes to Wendy for making all of this happen in the first place.

Please note that prizegiving for all basketball teams will be on Tuesday 8th September from 6pm in the college hall.
