Former Waikanae Rugby junior player Charley Lahmert is making her NRLW Premier debut this weekend. Charley, 19, is the daughter of club stalwart Dean Lahmert and sister of current Premier player Aaron Lahmert.
She moved to Taranaki age 9 and played union, league and 7s, many times as a junior rep. 2 years ago she moved to Australia and has played for the Newcastle Knights since, first in the U19 Tarsha Gale Cup, then most recently in the Harvey Norman premiership. She has been named Player of the Year the last two years.
Charley is a great example of hard work, commitment and focus.
