How satisfying is that 🧡

In just a few weeks, this turf will be ready for play on our brand new 17th Orange Tee.

Lots of you have seen the journey — from identifying the opportunity for a new tee on this dune, to seeing it take shape into what it is today.

There’s a lot more that goes into creating something like this than many people realise. New irrigation, because grass doesn’t grow without it. Laser levelling to get the surface just right. New turf. And now, plenty of care and attention while it beds in.

It’s another small but important step in bringing our course masterplan to life and, most importantly, creating better options for our Orange Tee players.

Now we give it plenty of love and watch it grow. 🌱🧡

Another step towards completing our Master Plan, created by Tataurangi Golf ⛳️

The plan calls for several additional teeing grounds to be added to the course, primarily to provide more options for players using our Orange markers.

Waikanae, like many courses around New Zealand, wasn’t originally constructed with three sets of tee markers in mind. As a result, a lot of work is going into establishing a dedicated third set of tees across the course.

These new tees will not only improve the playing experience by giving golfers more choice, but will also add variety, challenge and fun for players of all abilities.
Another important step in making Waikanae a more enjoyable and accessible place to play. 🟠🏌️‍♂️

"Naturalise wetland areas with riparian planting” — that’s what our master plan by Tataurangi Golf called for 🌱

Thanks to these amazing volunteers, that’s exactly what’s happening out on the course. The water is a real feature of Waikanae Golf Club, and our intention is to enhance it wherever possible while creating better habitat and adding to the natural character of the course.

A huge thank you not only to our volunteers here at Waikanae, but to all the volunteers around the country who give their time to golf clubs. Most courses in New Zealand simply wouldn’t be what they are today without you. ❤️

It's all go out here ⛳ Another couple of items from our master plan created by Tataurangi Golf are about to be ticked off the list.

In the next couple of months we'll have new orange teeing grounds for the 2nd, 7th and 17th holes 🙏

Waikanae GC was originally only built with two teeing grounds in mind. Where possible, we're looking to create a distinct teeing ground on each hole for our orange tees. There are so many positives to having more options with the tees including added variety and spreading out of wear and tear.

Having our master plan allows us some real structure in our approach to course improvement.
