It was a nail-biting finish for the 2026 Thames Valley Rugby Union Premier Men's Grand Final in Thames today. Supporters turned out in full force to back the Thames Rugby & Sports Club and Waihi Athletic Rugby Football & Sports Union Inc in their final showdown. Both teams left everything out on the field in the gripping battle for the McClinchy Cup, but there could only be one champion. Waihī Athletic stole the show and the win with a score of 20-19. Reporter DAVIDDA HIKATANGATA captured the champions in celebration.
