A general grading for Te Awamutu & Hamilton students was held at our dojo over the weekend on June 6th 👊

A huge congratulations to Luca Wadmore (1st Kyu) for picking up 3 medals at the North Island Seido Tournament this weekend 👊

Luca achieved Gold in Point Sparring & Silvers in Contact Sparring & Brown Belt Kata. An impressive achievement for his first tournament & as Te Awamutu’s only competitor this year. Well deserved Luca, osu! 🥇🥈🥈

Shuseki Shihan Michael & Jun Shihan Gerard formed the rest of the team representing Te Awamutu as judges & support.

Promoted by Shuseki Shihan Michael, Senpai Olly was clearly well prepared, demonstrating impressive strength, resilience, technique & spirit throughout.

Congrats Senpai, a black belt well earned!

Senpai Olly started his karate journey in Te Awamutu, going on to train at Seido Auckland & now at Seido Karate Tauranga 🥋

📣 SHODAN GRADING | Olly Gardner's Shodan Grading will take place this Saturday from 9am at Tauranga Boys College. Olly is a former member of our dojo, growing up in TA. All are welcome to support, green belts and above can bring gear for sparring.

Shuseki Shihan Michael would like to congratulate Luca Wadmore and all karateka who he has successfully graded over the past week, osu!

Luca has now obtained his 1st Kyu, which is the final rank before Shodan Black Belt promotion. He displayed sharp skills, focus and impressive syllabus knowledge and toughness to achieve this grade, osu Luca 👊

Well done also to all those who graded to advanced white, blue & yellow belts last Tuesday, strong spirit & technique shown throughout!

Our final class for 2025 is Thursday Dec 18th before we take a break to return to training on Tuesday January 20th, 2026.

GRADING ANNOUNCEMENT | A General Grading for 10th – 6th kyus will commence on Tuesday, December 16th at 6.00pm at the dojo.

Students will be advised individually by instructors in the next couple of weeks if they are able to partake in this grading. Students will need to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of their syllabus and good level of fitness.

The grading will be part of the normal class and will be followed by Xmas nibbles, iceblocks, drinks etc 🎄
