BNZ Kiwi Hoops.

Our coaches, have balls, have car, have trailer with portable hoops ... will TRAVEL!!!

Travel range is our BBNZ stipulated geographical boundary, from Waihi to Ōpōtiki. We are especially keen to visit kura in our outer regions.

The last, but 100% not least, round of THANKS for our leagues, goes to Team Blue.

Led by the amazing Competitions Manager Helen, our pretty much brand new team of Venue Controllers smashed 2026!!

Having great on the night staff involved, makes Helen’s job so much easier as she expertly juggles leagues five nights a week AND tournaments.

Thanks Ash, Ash, Cam, Cassie, Kiri, Maia and Sarah.

And of course, although she will hate the fanfare, trumpets blaring, speakers at full audio, crowd cheering loudly for her to take a bow …. THANKS Helen!!

Sometimes we forget we have legends walking amongst us!!

This is a thank you to our 2026 referee educators, Devina, Grace, Jade, Jayla, Kiri and of course Amo & James. Thank you for your efforts educating, supporting and unfortunately in some instances protecting our junior referees this year.

Back to the legend narrative, on the Finals Evening of the Secondary School Leagues, where all Finals were held at Mercury Bay Park (MBP), we were very short of referees at Haumaru, this was due to referees being sick, referees in finals, referees preferring to be in the action at MBP.

Devina Banks, pictured, even though extremely unwell jumped on court and refereed alongside the youngest referee for the entire night at Haumaru.

If you are part of the refereeing team and you see this type of roll the sleeves up, let’s get it done, I got you leadership, how can you not be inspired?!!

Nine teams in the girls grade, twenty four in the boys.

Love the opportunity this tournament gives our schools with a smaller roll.

Wishing all our local secondary schools the very best of luck for the ‘AA’ qualifying tournament starting Wednesday.
