Progress after just one round with coach 🙌🏾

Never underestimate the power of private coaching. When the attention of a skilled coach is spread across many students and limited to a strict timeframe with a specific syllabus, than it is very difficult to retain/grasp the full range of what they’re capable of teaching.

This is a small example of the progress that a single student can achieve when they apply themselves and commit to the tutoring available.

Introducing Isla Leyden One of our youngest rising stars showcasing her skills. She is a great example of how hard work can overcome challenges and adversity. Considering she’s already displaying the ability to work through tough challenges at a young age, she’ll definitely be one to watch!

Minor injuries and coaching from the sidelines

When the students take over you can be sure there’s going to be some funny moments. But in all seriousness they definitely have the skills and knowledge to step up when coach needs them too.

Suffering from a fractured rib (again), coach Eruera Piwari had to step back and let the young players take demos for the night. It’s a different feeling performing combos and techniques when all eyes are on you and it takes a level of confidence that can only be attained through practice and hard work.

It’s always an interesting experience working with a diverse group of students and it definitely keeps Coach Eruera Piwari on his toes.
But we wouldn’t have it any other way! 🙌🏾

What an incredible display of relentless strikes from both of these fighters. Our boy Tāne is no stranger to the fire of combat sports and isn’t afraid to throw down in the pocket when called to. Taking this fight on short notice and stepping up for the challenge he showed exemplary skill, heart, and sportsmanship.

Although this fight didn’t go our way via decision, Tāne had the most fun he’s ever had and continues to get better with every bout. He’s a OG UTA and has lead the way for many of UTA’s young prospects and rising stars. Still very early in his career, he is definitely one to watch with a bright future ahead!

As a pro fighter It’s important to stay ready! Whether you’re matched up to fight or awaiting that call. We must constantly refine and sharpen our tools to prepare ourselves for war at any given time.

At 36 years old, I don’t know when my last fight will take place or how much more time I have left competing at this level. So right now, I consider it a blessing to still be active and able to answer the call! 💯⚔️

2025 highlights 🔥🔥

This year has definitely had its ups and downs. But every class and every fight show has been an absolute blast! From everyday students to seasoned fighters, fight camps to open mats, wins and losses, we showed up 💯

is early in it’s journey to becoming a top gym in NZ but the waves we’re making are strong and memorable. From the fighters who put their bodies on the line and represent UTA with fearlessness and ferocity, to the everyday grinders filling the classes with their unshakable energy, to the brothers and sisters from neighbouring gyms, thank you ❤️🙏🏾

2026 we have some exciting new fighters making their debuts and they can’t wait to break on to the fight scene. So stay tuned for these exciting prospects.
