We only had to truck just down the road Saturday to do battle in the 3 hour endurance and 40 lap Firecracker sprint.

A few changes to the car for this round and some new team apparel and we're looking like the cats pyjamas!

Rory was first out in practice to cut some laps as he was full race slick virgin.

We then sent out our #2 pro driver, Aidan, to shoot for pole and he didn't disappoint.

Rory was back in the hot seat to start the race on pole. Off to a great start and putting seconds on the other competitors with each lap.

All was going positively swimmingly until an hour 10mins in and that dreaded call on the radio (there's a noise from the gearbox)

Oh s**t, Box Box!
The car comes in and we swing into action. Car up on stands, we run her up, and the box is rattling it's dags internally. Gearbox out and a new one back in and ready to roll in an hour and 32 mins. Lockie suited up and rolled out to finish the 3 hour and bank some much needed points, he also picked out the fastest lap time of the day! Quick car check and fuel up and Aidan lined up for the Firecracker 🧨 starting from the back of the grid again thanks to a rubbish marble draw. Aidan settled in to the task at hand and started to carve through the field. With only 40 laps to run he couldn't quite catch the front runners but ran super consistent and close to the breakout time crossing the line third in class. Fortunately, his fellow competitors had broken out of their times which handed him the win!

Rinse and repeat hopefully for round 4 Hampton Downs International track 29th August.

Another huge successful weekend for STR Motorsport round 2 Taupo.

Friday we made our way down early to test, as we'd had a small engine issue after the last round. A quick strip and check during the week from the boys at DNG automotive resulted in a clean bill of health, so we were able to cut some laps before race day Saturday.

Rory started off with practise before Young gun Aidan put us on pole again up against a very talented field.

After much discussion with the team, the"Tall drink of water" Hamish started the race. With a cool calm head, a full fuel load, and cold tyres, we pushed hard for the next hour and half.

In for the pitstop where Shane, Mike and Aidan changed tires and fueled the car in record time. Rory then jumped in and started the final run home... with some fantastic close fast racing he brought the car home to take first place in the Mega-pro endurance 3 hour race.

With a 20 min break we fueled the car, bolted some sticky rubber on, and sent out Baby driver to run the Firecracker 40. With a marble draw we drew P2 and he was off, squeezing every last drop of oomph out of the K24... with a fantastic battle against the Audi of 7motorsport, he managed to cross the line with another win for STR Motorsport!
