🏃‍♀️ COACHING/VOLUNTEERING AT ATHLETICS — WHY NOT YOU? 🏃‍♂️

Have you ever thought about getting more involved at Taupō Athletics but weren’t sure if helping or coaching was for you?

Here’s the thing — you don’t have to be an athletics expert to become a great volunteer or coach. ❤️

Being a volunteer or coach is a fantastic way to:
⭐ Spend time with your child doing something they love
⭐ Learn more about athletics yourself
⭐ Help children develop new skills
⭐ Build confidence and connections within our athletics community
⭐ Give something back to a sport that gives so much to our kids

And there’s a pretty great bonus too…

🎟️ Coaching is a way to guarantee your child’s place at the club. With numbers limited especially in our grades 3-6, being part of our coaching team means you’re contributing to keeping the club running while ensuring your athlete can continue to participate.

💰 $15 course fee reimbursed by Taupō Athletics for our coaches once you have attended the course.

And you won’t be thrown in the deep end! 🙌

Our Coach Coordinator and other experienced coaches are here to support you, whether you’re brand new to coaching or just need someone to bounce ideas off.

You also don’t have to be available every Thursday night. Even helping when you can makes a difference, and we can work around your availability. Some tasks are simple like raking the long jump pit or you can level right up to setting the activity for a station and coaching the athletes.

Commonwealth Games action - get amongst it and support our kiwi athletes

We're getting ready for the 2026/27 season and are looking for a Club Secretary to join our committee.

We had a fantastic turnout at our AGM and have a strong committee in place, but we're still missing this key role.

What's involved?
• Coordinating club communications, meetings and administration
• Around 3–5 hours per week during the season (often less as the workload is shared across the committee)
• Most of the role can be done from home with the support of our friendly committee

Committee member benefits:

See Spa Park from a whole new angle and enjoy the North Island Cross Country Championship this weekend.

🌲 Spa Thermal Park, Taupō

This challenging event for children and adults of all abilities has been held in Taupō for well over 30 years now. Spectators are welcome to watch as some of our top endurance athletes conquer one of the most picturesque courses in the country.

🐕 Spa Park loving dog walker? With the event on, space may be limited so consider some of our other dog-friendly parks like Control Gates Reserve. More info at www.taupo.govt.nz/dog-areas.

The park is open to all, but you can expect runners over the whole weekend, so please take care in the area as it will be busy.

🥏 Disc-golfers, 🚴 BMX-ers and other park users, the park is open to the public but please take care around the course. It’ll be busy!

Wednesday @ 4.00pm - Cross Country Training for Children Aged 7 and Over
Meet at the clubrooms.
Train to run your school's cross country. Practice on the course used for the inter primary schools cross country.
There's also the option to enter the North Island Cross Country Champs on Saturday 4 July.
Club memebers receive a free entry.
