Why do people keep coming back to Basestep week after week?
Itâs usually not about becoming the best dancer in the room. Itâs about the people, the music, and having one evening each week that feels genuinely fun.
If youâve danced with us before, youâll probably know exactly what we mean. And if itâs been a while, this Thursday is a great chance to come back and reconnect with some familiar faces.
If youâre new to Modern Jive, our new 4-week Beginnerâs Block Course starts 16 September, so thereâs a great place to start too.
Come along and dance with us every Thursday.

Hereâs a fun fact that might make the last few weeks make a lot more sense.
Modern Jive isnât about memorising hundreds of routines. Itâs built around a small number of core moves that can be combined and varied depending on the music and who youâre dancing with.
Thatâs what makes it so social and flexible. Once the foundations start to click, everything becomes easier to recognise and connect.
If youâre new to Modern Jive, our new 4-week Beginnerâs Block Course starts 16 September and is designed to help you build those foundations from scratch.

Quick dance tip for tonight: connection isnât about how tightly youâre holding on.
Relax your arms, trust your frame, and let the connection do the work. Itâs a small adjustment that can make leading and following feel much smoother.
If youâre new to Modern Jive, this is exactly the kind of foundation weâll be working on in our new 4-week Beginnerâs Block Course starting 16 September.

Five weeks into Term 3 already. Where has that gone?
If you've been dancing with us this term, you've probably noticed it yourself. The moves that felt awkward in the first couple of weeks are starting to feel a lot more natural. That's the payoff from turning up consistently and giving yourself time to settle into it.
And if life has got in the way and you've missed a class or two, don't overthink it. Come back this Thursday and pick up where you left off. We're always happy to help returning dancers get back into the rhythm.
This one's for everyone already dancing with us this term. We'd love to see you back on the floor on Thursday night.

Ever finish a song and your arms feel like youâve been holding a shopping bag the whole time?
That usually comes down to your frame. A lot of dancers hold too much tension because they think it gives them more control, but a relaxed frame with a little give in the elbows helps both partners feel the connection more naturally.
These are the small details we work on in class each week, and theyâre the things that help your dancing feel smoother over time.
If youâve danced with Basestep before and itâs been a while, come back and put those skills into practice with us this Thursday. Weâd love to see you back on the floor.

Dancing is always better with good company around you.
If youâve danced with Basestep before and itâs been a while, tomorrow is a great chance to reconnect. Come back with a dance partner, catch up with familiar faces from class, or simply turn up on your own and ease back into the rhythm.
You donât need to wait for the next term to get back on the floor. Plenty of dancers take a break and return when the timing feels right, and weâd love to see you back with us tomorrow night.
