Mobile health and movement therapy — Taupō, NZ. We find what your body responds to and reset it. We come to you.

The Rewire & Release Protocol: 5 sessions combining myofascial assessment, neurological corrective exercise, and fascial release.

07/09/2026

Why does smelling something, or looking through a coloured lens, change how your body moves?
Each cranial nerve carries a signal from a specific stimulus — a smell, a sound, a colour, a taste — straight to your brain. Different nerve, different pathway, different destination.

Here's the part that matters: those pathways don't stay separate. A lot of them cross paths with the parts of your brain controlling movement and pain. So stimulating the right nerve, in the right way, can genuinely change how a muscle fires or how much pain you feel — not because it's magic, because the wiring is actually connected.

That's the "why" behind testing scent, colour, and sound against your movement. It's not guessing whether something feels nice. It's checking whether that specific pathway helps you and helping you become aware of what things might be restricting you.

It's finding small simple things that you can add to you day/ your training that make a positive difference.

DM me if you want to book your session and get some easy things to unlock your restrictions.

I saw your post on Facebook — what could you actually do for me?”

I get clients asking me for a summary of what I do so they can tell their friends and I get new requests for it as well - I don’t have a “elevator pitch” I do a lot 😇. Here’s the honest answer:

I’m a neurological corrective exercise specialist (fancy way of saying I work with nerve signals to help your body), and a myofascial movement coach (fancy way of saying connective tissue).

You can work with me privately or small groups, we can work one off sessions or through a specific 5 session protocol described below:

I start the protocol with 3 different assessment sessions.

These tell us, which lines of connective tissue will improve your freedom of movement & which cranial nerve stimuli will improve your movement.

All 3 also tell us which type of stimulus and what type of movement will be restricting you (this helps us know when you can do a homework movement to stop things stacking and making things worse - not what things we need to cut out).

The final 2 sessions are reinforcement:
Session 4, we calm the system, reset nerves that aren’t sending enough signal to extremities and reinforce the homework when the body is ready to receive the info.

Session 5, (my favourite to receive for maintenance), we help move the bodies fluids and we release any trapped connective tissues, we make space for the nerves.

The homework fits into what you’re already doing — most of it can be done at home, in the shower, even alongside your other training.

DM me if you want to know what this could actually do for you.

Even if you haven’t started the protocol yet, this is worth knowing before you do.

A question I get asked a lot: “So once the 5 sessions are done, what then?”

You’ll have homework tailored to what your body actually needed. That’s the main thing carrying you forward — not me - but, expect the tightness to change in the future, so the line that works for you now, may not be your forever and we’ll need to reassess to get you updated homework at that time.

How you want to handle that is entirely up to you. Some people like a 1:1 maintenance session every so often — $130 if you book and pay one at a time, or $120 each if you book and pay for a few together (doesn’t mean they’re all on the same day, I just don’t enjoy reconciliation so I’d prefer to give you a discount and save me a job). Some prefer the online library (a separate subscription) to work through at their own pace. Some come along to classes at Studio Two and use that as a regular check-in with how their body’s changing.

How often, if at all? That varies hugely too. Say session 1 falls on a Monday — some people move straight through, session 2 Tuesday, 3 Wednesday, 4 Thursday, then session 5 the following Thursday. Others prefer session 1 on a Monday, then each session on a Monday over the following weeks. Maintenance, if you want it, might start the Monday after session 5 — or three weeks later, or six. Every body responds differently, so none of this is one-size-fits-all.

I’m not signing anyone up to keep my books full. I want you moving better — and telling everyone it was weird but effective.

Already been through the protocol and think it’s time for a check-in? DM me to book maintenance. Haven’t started yet and want to know what session 1 actually looks like?

DM me for that too.

During a session focused on rehab/prehab a client mentioned they don’t like using their walking stick now.

I get that, it’s not great needing something you don’t feel you should, but I dug deeper anyway.

Turns out, it was fine while recovering from surgery, this particular client just doesn’t want to continue using it or relying on it because she doesn’t want to look like a “cripple.”

She’s had 4 hip replacements, ankles, feet, shins and knee surgeries.

When she engages her core and slows down, she’s great.

But she has things to do, people to see and she’s in a rush to do all of it 👀

My suggestion isn’t to not use a walking stick when needed, it’s not even to just get over it and use what helps you.

Get the most badass staff you can find and walk round like you own the place.

You’ll slow down, no one will be thinking you’re a cripple and you’ll have some cool conversations.

• that changed her mind 😇
(My first game of football in Aus had me needing a walking stick for a year - I had a very cool cane).

I know some of you think I’m a wizard/ miracle healer. I’m not. I do know some stuff and I trust your body to tell me what it needs

People sometimes ask how I know where to go next in the protocol.

The short answer: I have no idea, something pulls at me in a direction (although I haven’t fully trusted that yet, so I work through a protocol and usually get my instincts proven right) Session 1 clarifies things for both of us.

The first session checks six fascial lines against your specific movement complaint. Better, worse, or the same — that’s the test for each one. By the end, we both know which lines give you more freedom, and which restrict or cause pain. That map becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

Sessions 2 and 3 test sensory inputs — scent, colour, frequency — against the same reference point (although if you’ve picked up niggles between sessions, we’ll be working on those as well).

Session 4 integrates what’s been found to be beneficial.

Session 5 finishes the deep fascial and lymphatic work.

The sequence isn’t arbitrary — it’s built on what your body has responded well too.

That’s the logic of it.

DM me if you want to know whether this applies to what you’re dealing with.

I’ve held this post for around a month now. I’m aware many of the client stories I share are big changes, this one was bigger, so I know the “too good to be true” will ring through it.

Someone came to see me, she’d been coping, barely, on nerve blockers and still in 7 or 8 out of 10 nerve pain.

From session one, we had useful movement homework that would help reduce the pain. From session two, a huge change - Roman Chamomile took the pain away, it just didn’t stay gone. I hated it, the pain would go, to show me it could go, then it would sneak back in.

We did the release session and finally for the next 9-10 hours, no pain.. but it came back later that night

The next week, she was ready, keen to push through whatever was there.

So we slowed right down instead. And that’s when things actually started moving again — a shoulder release, then diaphragm, we changed from the standard protocol.

That’s the part people don’t always expect — the protocol isn’t a fixed script. It goes wherever the body actually needs it to go.

That night, it didn’t come back. The next day, still not back.

It’s not gone, the underlying issues are still there, but we can use parts of the brain to help with pain relief, we can use the body to create space to make things more manageable.

Her pain went from 7/10 to nothing during the right stimulus. Not gone forever, not blocked out or glossed over — but understood, and manageable, in a way it hadn’t been before.

That’s four days left before this becomes $595 instead of $495. If you’ve been thinking about it, now’s the moment. DM me.

The July workshop gave me something that 1:1 sessions don’t.

A group of people in the room, all doing the smell testing together. The results were dramatic — the kind of before/after I’m used to seeing in individual sessions — but with a different dynamic: everyone could see each other responding.

One person couldn’t forward bend past halfway down their shin before a smell test. After the right scent, they touched the floor. Then the wrong scent, back to the mid shin and a return of pain.

In a 1:1 session, a result like that lands differently — the person experiencing it is the only witness. In a group, everyone else just watched it happen. If that just happened to them, maybe something like that is possible for me too.

That’s the kind of thing that’s hard to fake, and hard to argue with once you’ve seen it.

Price goes up in 5 days. $495 to $595 on 1 September. If you’ve been sitting on it, that’s the window left.

DM me.

Did you know, while I was picking the colours for the light testing for the optic nerve, I had to make sure I got violet glasses, not purple, since it doesn't actually have a wavelength of its own — it's a mix of red and blue.

Why does that matter?

Different wavelengths hit different parts of the brain stem, different parts of the brain stem fire different parts of the brain, and different parts of the brain change your movement and pain in different parts of your body.

This isn't the hype for blue light glasses as part of the $5B industry — this is testing what works for your body and then giving you advice for you, not something generic.

That said, the price goes up in 7 days. $495 to $595 on 1 September. If you've been sitting on the fence, it's still worth the $595, but you might want to save some money while you can.
DM me to get booked in.

Restrictions and pain rarely initiate from where the pain is.

If you have tenderness somewhere in your body, your nervous system will protect it, creating tightness somewhere else — a tight area and the source of what’s driving it will have something in common, but that might be a line of connective tissue, it might be a specific area of the brain.

This is part of why the protocol looks for what’s underneath, not just where pain or restriction is showing up.

Find what works with the body, rather than pushing against it.

The body is complex and complicated - this protocol isn’t.

You’ll get movement homework from the first session, you’ll move better from that.

You’ll get some neurological homework from session 2 and 3 (that might be smell something, buy a cheap pair of coloured glasses, pull faces), it sounds crazy - your body will choose what works, not my fault.

I know, sounds too simple and too good to be true.

It works. DM me. John

Price goes up in 8 days. $495 to $595 on 1 September. If you’ve been sitting on this — time to act.
