Brea Walker Eventing

NZ Event Rider offering schooling, competition riding, agistment and coaching services in Kinloch, Taupo. This is where she found her ultimate passion – horses.

Based on 36 acres with a 60x40 SJ arena, cross country training facility, covered yards, paddock riding and great hacking 🐴🤎 It all started with humble beginnings at a local riding school in Auckland for 22-year old eventer, Brea Walker. From pony club certificates and teams events to rubbing shoulders with the very best of the sport internationally, it has already been a journey Brea never could

have dreamed up… and this is only the beginning. Her desire to learn started with admiring the senior riders at pony club and trying to learn all she could from them to helping out the likes of Ginny Thompson and Sam Mynott during the school holidays to soak up as much knowledge as she could. A recommendation then landed Brea the most pivotal role of her career working as a rider and groom for Sir Mark Todd at just 18 years old. This is where Brea’s passion for coaching really came to fruition. Her ability to turn what she loves into her career has only been made possible through others sharing their knowledge with her. She now lives by the motto that knowledge is useless unless it is shared. Off the back of another educational stint abroad working for Laura Collett MBE, current Badminton Champion and Tokyo Olympic Gold Medalist, Brea is ready to re-establish her coaching and schooling business and build her string of competition horses. Brea’s coaching goal is to share her training system and method based on having solid clear foundations to riders all over New Zealand. She has clear systems that begin with excellent horse management and training the basics properly ensuring we future proof ourselves, leaving no stone unturned. Her coaching dream would be to one day coach the High-Performance Eventing Squads in New Zealand and possibly even abroad. Brea put her own competing on hold to give herself time to learn from eventing legends abroad. She is a big believer of not being afraid to follow your own path, therefore has prioritised establishing her knowledge base at a younger age. She is now excited to draw from this and establish her eventing team back in New Zealand. Representing New Zealand on the world stage is Brea’s ultimate personal riding goal. Aiming to establish a solid team of horses and a competitive record at 4* level before eventually moving her team abroad for an international campaign at the likes of Badminton and Burghley has always been the dream. Brea could not pursue this path without the support from her incredible sponsors, owners, clients, friends and family. For them she is extremely grateful. NISS ARENA EVENTING 🤩
I will be at NISS tomorrow as an Arena Eventing Ambassador!

What does this mean for the riders?
I will be there to warm up anyone that wants help, answer any questions or give a confidence boosting chat to anyone who wants one!
You don't need to be a client of mine or pay any money this is a free service! Thanks to ESNZ for organising this for the riders.

It's up to you to come and find me or message me when you need help! I'll be wearing an ESNZ white cap and a BW Eventing Jacket (unless it's freezing like today and then I'll resemble more of a snow man in a navy blue long coat)!

Meet Colin the Caterpillar 🐛🩷

He’s our newest addition to the brand new XC paddock here at BW Eventing, which now has over 30 jumps in it!

Currently on track for it to be complete next week - water jump, ditch, bank and all the training fences you could dream of for everyone from greenies to 2/3* horses! The plan is to move everything around frequently to ensure there are lots of combinations and lines to train and terrain is just the best part!

Videos and photos of the full course to come but I couldn’t hold back from sharing Colin with you all! 😜

The QUIRKIEST chap I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting! He doesn’t seem to know his age in any aspect of life either 😜

We have named him the Comeback Kid! I know he’s been a huge part of keeping me motivated the last few months after giving me the coolest feeling at the 3DE! And he’s making his own comeback after he slipped into early semi retirement for a bit there (the dad bod life hit him hard 😂)!

I’m so grateful to Amy and Megan for allowing me the chance to buy him as I know how special he is to your family! 16yr old Brea is SCREAMING that he’s mine. Always a big Radar fan (as I know many other people are too) 🩷

Get to know… WEITI GLADIATOR 🍝 🦒

17.2hh, 10yr old Gelding by Weiti Kingswood out of a Doringcourt mare. Bred by Macey and Jan Gill.

But most importantly the King of Walnut Tree Farm 🤴🏼 and the world’s biggest oddfellow lover!

The fact that I didn’t need anyone to come and bring him into work for me after 3 months off is a true testament to his nature! He was my first pick to ride after my accident and I can just climb aboard with full faith in him (definitely the 14hh pony the specialist recommended I start with) 😜

Love you Noodles! You might not be everyone’s cup of tea but you’re perfect to me!

✖️ COACHING & SCHOOLERS UPDATE✖️

Great news that I am going to be back coaching from next week! Taking bookings from August 10th. I can travel locally or teach at our property (central Kinloch) with flatwork, show jumping and cross country options all on site! Perfect timing for NISS and pre season training!

60x40 Jump Arena with full set of jumps with fill. Cross country paddock with logs, skinnies, brush, combinations, undulating ground which allows for some awesome training opportunities and more to come… 😍

We have paddocks and accomodation available on site for my clients from out of Taupo if you’re wanting to travel down for a few days of training (get out to jump on the grass before the season starts)!

Currently taking a waitlist for schoolers the hope being that I can start taking schoolers around end August/early September but could easily be earlier so get in with your interest now!

The season is just around the corner 💪🏽
