After surviving the monster that was Hole 4, Hole 5 brings us back to a more manageable distance… but don’t mistake that for easy!

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) face a basket sitting elevated in the distance, with some seriously large trees blocking the cleanest route.

Maverick decides to attack the trees with a massive anhyzer, looking to shape around the obstacles and give himself a direct run at the basket.

The problem?

Too much ambition! 😬

His drive finds the nearby golf green and lands out of bounds.

Meanwhile, Kelvin & Maree opt for the more controlled approach—straight and low, keeping their drives safely in play before setting themselves up with an approach shot to the elevated basket.

Sometimes you don’t need the spectacular line.

You just need the line that works.

And at Hagley, those golf-course hazards are always waiting to turn a good drive into a scorecard nightmare.

HOLE 4 — The Monster! 😳🥏

206 metres.

Yep… you read that correctly.

675 FEET.

Hole 4 is an absolute monster of a par 3, and for most players, simply getting a par here is a victory.

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) are faced with one of the longest holes of the Hagley Hustle—and there is zero room for inaccurate drives.

⛳ Follow the shape of the regular golf hole
↪️ Slight fade to the right towards the finish
💪 Distance AND accuracy required

This hole isn’t about trying to overpower the course.

It’s about surviving the distance while staying on the fairway.

The regular golf hole shape gives you the blueprint: work your way down the fairway, manage the trees on both sides, and gradually shape your shots towards that finishing fade to the right.

For players with huge arms and pinpoint accuracy, a par is possible.

For everyone else?

Well… good luck! 😂

A single inaccurate drive can put you behind the trees and make an already enormous hole even more difficult.

This is the kind of hole where you don’t chase the score.

You chase the fairway.

HOLE 3 — Long, Windy & Unforgiving! 🌬️🥏

Hagley is starting to turn up the pressure!

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) step onto Hole 3 facing a 119m par 3 that is anything but straightforward.

🚫 Significant OB to the right
🌬️ Unpredictable winds
🎯 Tough birdie opportunity

Getting this one in the basket in a single shot is a serious challenge.

The distance is certainly there for the big arms, but the guardian trees make a clean approach to the basket difficult. Add unpredictable winds into the mix and suddenly even a perfectly executed drive can get pushed off its intended line.

Miss short or left and the golf green OB can punish you.

Drift too far right and there’s even more trouble waiting.

So what’s the play?

Commit to the drive, respect the wind, and give yourself the best possible opportunity to attack the basket—or settle for a smart par.

This is one of those holes where a good par can feel like a birdie. 😅

HOLE 2 — Pick Your Line 🌳🥏

Hole 2 gives Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) a choice:

Play it safe… or get adventurous. 👀

🥏 Low, straight drive down the tree line
🌳 Avoid the trees and their unforgiving branches
🚶 Keep clear of the out-of-bounds path to the right
🌈 Or unleash a massive backhand anhyzer!

Kelvin opts for the big anhyzer, trusting an understable disc to carry around the left side of the trees, opening up the fairway for the approach.

It’s a classic risk-versus-reward decision.

The straight line keeps things predictable, but demands accuracy and enough distance to work your way down the fairway.

The big anhyzer opens up a completely different route—but requires serious commitment to the angle and plenty of trust in the disc’s flight.

Get the drive right, and it’s time to dial in the approach before finishing with the putt.

HOLE 1 — Start Long & Straight! 🥏🌳

New course. New challenge. New special guest!

Kelvin & Maree are joined by Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) for a round at Hagley Disc Golf Park, the pay-to-play course located at Hagley Golf Club in Christchurch.

And Hole 1 wastes no time testing the big guns.

At 125 metres, this opening par 3 demands a long, accurate drive down the fairway before another precise approach and a confident putt.

The goal around Hagley is pretty simple:

Be accurate with your long drives. Be precise with your approaches. Make your putts.

Sounds easy, right? 😅

The first challenge comes immediately, with that tree on the right ready to snag an errant drive and turn a promising start into a recovery shot.

Survive the tee, find the fairway and you’ve still got work to do—the basket sits slightly left and on a lower level, making the approach and landing position just as important as the initial drive.
