Deep rafters? No problem.

Good architecture often comes down to how the edges are resolved.

Here, custom metal fascia wraps the roof perimeter, concealing the deep rafters and maintaining a clean, consistent roofline.

A considered detail, kept deliberately simple.

When the soffit becomes part of the architecture.

As the new PHF Science building nears completion, it's exciting to see how the architectural vision is coming together.

The flowing roofline and curved faƧade are complemented by Ribon's woven metal panel soffit system, following the building's geometry to create a continuous architectural language rather than simply concealing the underside of the structure.

It's always rewarding to see a product become an integral part of the design, contributing texture, depth and visual continuity.

A great example of architecture and detailing working together.

Do you think soffits are becoming a more considered architectural feature, rather than just a functional element? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Homegrown soffit system shines - Case Study

Builders opt for local product during shipping delays
Unreliable shipping. Sound familiar? Right now the root cause is a diesel supply issue. In 2020 it was due to the Covid panic. Back then, the builder of a beautiful modern residence on Auckland’s Mahurangi East had been waiting and waiting for James Hardie to receive the fibre cement needed to install the house’s soffits and complete the build. As time ticked by and costs escalated, it became clear that they were not going to get enough product into New Zealand to meet demand.
Something had to give. The builder needed to keep the project on track so he asked Google to find an alternative product. Google found Ribon and the builder placed the order.

What had started as a desperate move turned out to be an incredible solution, sourced just down the road in Auckland. Not only were Ribon’s soffits local, but they were the perfect fit for the clean structural aesthetic of the ultra-modern build. Although Ribon was initially chosen for its immediate supply, the system itself delighted both the builder and the client.

The time to look for product solutions in our own backyard has well and truly come.

Big moment on site šŸ‘Œ

The scaffold is finally coming down and the first reveal of our Ribon metal soffits is looking incredible.

Custom manufactured in long lengths to suit large spans, while giving architects the flexibility to create striking woven patterns and feature details — including this light void installation now coming to life.

Great to see the design vision becoming reality.

Guess what? We’ve landed in Papua New Guinea — well, our Ribon soffits have.

We are proud to be part of Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport — a project transforming a once modest terminal into a world-class gateway near Lae.

Working alongside Azusa Sekkei and Fletcher Construction Morobe, we delivered 3,000m² of lightweight, curved metal soffits—engineered for bold design, fast installation, and tropical durability.

Inspired by the kundu drum, this project blends culture, innovation, and performance—and we’re proud to be part of it.

A great design we were apart of a few years back.
