⚽ NZSS TRIDENT TOURNAMENT – WE NEED YOUR HELP! ⚽

We are truely excited to be hosting a secondary schools tournament back in Rotorua in 2026.

From Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September, Lakes Football Club will be helping host the NZSS Trident Tournament here in Rotorua — and it’s going to be a massive week of football!

We’ve already had some fantastic referees put their hands up to be involved, but with over 100 games across the week, we’re going to need a few more! Referees will be paid $60 per game, and whether you can cover one game, a few games or multiple days, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also looking for some awesome volunteers who can help us set up the six fields each morning before the football gets underway. Even if you can only help for one morning, every extra pair of hands makes a huge difference.

So if you love football, enjoy setting up fields, fancy getting the whistle out, or simply want to help us put on a great tournament for secondary school players from around the country, we’d love your support!

🙌🔥🖤🩵 U19 Youth Girls 🩵🖤🔥🙌

A few words from coach Mark Chapman about his truely impressive group of girls.

“Extremely proud of the Lakes FC Tarawera U19 team on finishing top of the WaiBOP league and becoming 2026 League Champions.

It was a really tight title race, with Lakes and Bethlehem College both finishing on 25 points, but our +30 goal difference secured top spot.

Across the 10 games the team produced an outstanding record:

8 wins | 1 draw | 1 loss
39 goals scored | 9 conceded | +30 goal difference

What has impressed me most has been the development of the group across the season. The players have worked hard, competed for each other and continued to improve the way we play. There have been some excellent team performances, but also plenty of moments where the players have had to show resilience and find a way to get a result.

Winning a league is never easy and takes commitment from the whole squad, not just the players on the field each week.

A massive thank you to the players, parents, supporters and everyone at Lakes FC who has backed the team throughout the season.

A fantastic achievement and one the players should be very proud of.

🌧️⚽ JUNIOR FOOTBALL CANCELLED – PUARENGA PARK ⚽🌧️

Unfortunately, Mother Nature has won this round!

Due to the amount of rain we’ve had and the current condition of the fields, ALL Junior Football at Puarenga Park is CANCELLED today, Saturday 15th August.

There are some pretty impressive puddles out there, but unfortunately we haven’t added swimming to the football programme just yet! 🏊‍♂️😂

Thanks everyone for your understanding. Enjoy the sleep-in, keep warm and dry, and hopefully we’ll be back out there next weekend! 🩵🖤

Rotorua has long been one of New Zealand’s favourite destinations for families, and now it’s time to add another reason to visit.

We’re excited to launch the inaugural Lakes Football Club Invitational Tournament, bringing clubs from across New Zealand together for two days of quality football in the heart of Rotorua.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect competitive hit-out before the Weir Rose Tournament, the McCartney Tournament, or simply want to finish your season by testing your players against quality opposition from around the country, this tournament is for you.

More importantly, this tournament represents the next step for football in Rotorua.

For several years we’ve had clubs asking when Rotorua would host a major junior tournament. We’re proud to say we’re finally in a position to make it happen.

Our vision is simple:
