A bit of breathing space 🧡

Roadworks on State Highway 30A (SH30A) between Te Ngae Road and Fenton Street in Rotorua are paused until the weather improves.

Work began this morning to rebuild SH30A between Te Ngae Road and Fenton Street.

This closure is the quickest and safest way to carry out the necessary road rebuild with asphalt layers, which requires large volumes of plant and equipment to be on site.

We acknowledge that the work was disruptive this morning. We've taken this into consideration and have removed the detour from the city out to the airport to allow the afternoon peak to use SH30A.

What you need to know:
-All four lanes will be open by 6am tomorrow
-Traffic management will remain in place as work has started and part of the road surface is dug out. Ramps will be installed where the road is at different levels to keep motorists safe.
-People walking or cycling must use the sign-posted track.
-We'll re-assess the weather and programme on Tuesday morning and share the updated plan as soon as it's confirmed.

This is just to remind our families and instructors that the roadworks currently happening at TeNgae road, near PacknSave can cause some major traffic delays, be safe out there!
