A very pleasant morning trolling the "airport run " at Lake Rotorua, resulting in a few keepers for the smoker. I am somewhat mystified by the reaction of one or two friends who turn down an offer of smoked trout from Lake Rotorua, claiming they can taste the difference, and " wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, or similar comments.
Your feedback, please.

Roger enjoyed success with a recent trip to Ohope, targeting flounder. An underrated fish. In my opinion, one of the tastiest fish for a quick pan fry.

Fishing these cold winter mornings demands "gentlemen's hours". 9a.m.- 3 p.m
Lake Rotorua had a water temperature of only 8c when we headed out to troll the airport run. I had only just positioned the rod in its holder when the reel screamed that distinctive ratchet sound. A fine brown and another four added to the bin before we called it a day.
