Finally got back on the sand. Went for a day mission over the low tide and found some amazing looking water with all the signs of fish and it didn't disappoint. Between 10am and 1pm managed to bag a good feed. Definitely casting distance and small fresh baits are the key points in bright still conditions like this.

Last Friday finally turned on some sunshine — no rain for once! 🌞
Everyone who wasn’t at the shop made the most of it and got out to enjoy our incredible backyard.

🎣 Jim was out on Lake Rotoiti, which was beautiful and calm. He landed eight trout in total — the first keeper came off the downrigger, and on the first drop of the jig, number eight was hooked. Not a bad day out!

🎣 Malcolm and Teresa hit Lake Tarawera, which was as flat as glass at times, under a cloudless sky. They tried both trolling and jigging, landing three trout and losing a couple. The Grey Ghost fly was working a charm, with the biggest fish tipping the scales at 8lb.

🎣 Meanwhile, Brad swapped freshwater for salt and headed to the coast for a surfcast session, but that's a story for another day.

Can’t beat days like this in the Rotorua region — great weather, great fishing, and even better stories to share back at the shop.

Brad and Mark headed over to the coast for the annual Whakatane Snapper 1000 on the last weekend of September — the one that always marks the start of Daylight Saving! ☀️🎣

Fishing was tough this year, but the break was well worth it after a busy few months. Two nights away, plenty of laughs, and they even tried their hand at whitebaiting for the first time — with success! 🐟

On Monday while Big Mal was slaying the trout, Brad, Mark, and Zeb traded the hills for the shallows — heading up Huntly way for a bowhunting mission on the pest species, Carp. 🎯🐟

They spent around 8 hours wading through the water, culling an impressive 232 carp between the three of them. It’s only a small dent in the fight against this invasive species, but every bit helps.

A solid day of adventure, laughs, and a bit of “boys’ time” in the great outdoors. 👊

🎣 Malcolm’s on fire 🔥 He’s been making the most of the season — out three times since opening day last week!
His latest trip on Lake Rotorua delivered the goods, with a Tassie Devil “Clown” and a “Grey Ghost” fly doing the damage.
Pop in and see Malcolm in-store for a chat — he’s always happy to share what’s working and where the fish are biting!

A month ago, Brad and his dad Peter headed to Lottin Point for a well-earned 4-day break — and it didn’t disappoint.

On departure morning, they woke to a frost and fortunately the evening before Brad had put the Hamills Wilder to clever use as a windscreen cover to keep things clear (multi-use for the win!). From there, it was four days of no time pressure, no cell-phone coverage, and total relaxation — with the Garmin inReach on hand for emergencies.

The weather was stunning all week, the kind you wish you could bottle. Peter took a couple of deer with the rifle, Brad matched it with a couple by bow, and they even culled a few goats along the way. The perfect mix of adventure, fresh air, and a good re-set. 🦌🌊☀️
