NCNC Centennial Celebrations in 2028, North Canterbury Netball Centre will celebrate its 100th anniversary! This is such an exciting occasion and we'd love to know how you would like celebrate it with us! We're in the very early planning stages but your answers to the questions below will help shape the celebrations, thank you!...

Sunday morning saw the celebration of the Jan McCormick - Bayleys Canterbury Fair Play Award nominees for the 2026 Winter Season. Thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who took the time to recognise their child's positive contribution to our community, we hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did!

Our runners up: Woodend FF3:
Woodend FF3 have had some big losses but their team spirit, resilience, ability to stay positive come off with a smile and not give up or be negative with each other is fantastic. We have some girls who are new to netball learning the basics and the whole team wraps around each other and the sportswomanship is heartening to see. In sport, winning and individually shining often gets the recognition but being good wee humans that control how they react to adversity in a positive way should also be celebrated. It would be amazing for that important life lesson that we can only control how we react when faced with challenges to be recognised. A beautiful group of girls who deserve some positive recognition for being positive and good wee humans they all embody what this fair play award is about.

Indiah-Mae: Indie played for the Keas on Saturday she is normally in the Clarkville Rising Stars team. Indie is a very short year 5 and during the game she found herself up against much taller opposition. She keep her smile one her face for the whole game even against very tall opposition. She chatted to the other team and even though the game was lost she said she enjoyed the game so much.

Our 2026 Fair Play Award Winner: CC Bertie: While watching her older sisters netball game Cust FF1 against Amberley FF3, a player on the Amberley team got injured and they had no subs. It was suggested to CC that she could play for Amberley even though she is part of Cust Club. She stepped up (as is only year 5) and filled in until Amberley sourced another player.

More to celebrate!
Our most voted players by their opposition for the Jo George Memorial Premier MVP Award were Florence and Zoe, both displaying incredible skill and sportsmanship on court each week, well done girls.

Thank you to Taryn and Makayla from Studio Pilates Rangiora + Kaiapoi for coming to present the award and for your support this season, we are so grateful! Thank you also to Jo's brother, Kieran, for helping us celebrate Florence and Zoe and Jo's legacy.

NCNC's Personality of the Year was awarded by our Patron Shirley to one of the kindest souls on court, Jack! Jack has had a massive season of netball (which isn't over yet!) and turns up each week with a smile on his face and his netball brain on, all the best for what's to come, you're an asset to your teams, community and beyond!

Premier Player of the match was awarded to Karereatua Williams (OXF 1) for her flair and accuracy. Karereatua's timing and tactical play were a thing of beauty, this award is so well deserved! Congratulations!
