All finished for 2026 Indoor Nationals. The first day was a big day shooting 120 scored arrows, 60 at 18m and 60 at 25m. In the end I shot 1146/1200, 575 at 18m and 571 at 25m. Overall these scores are a bit lower than I wanted but still ranked me 4th in the open division against some great archers. Sunday was match play. Starting with doubles, I was paired with liam burrow which was great! We made it through our first match and then got knocked out on the second one.
Then onto individual match play where I was put in the open division as I was shooting in u21 which meant I had a challenge in front of me. I got through my first 2 matches but then lost the semi final which put me in the bronze medal match which I also ended up losing. Although in the end I finished up in 1st for all youth category’s.
Overall it was a great tournament and a can’t wait for next years one again!

After the Oceania Championships we changed the bow setup for indoors.
This weekend I had my first indoor competition in Dunedin. Saturday we had 25m and 18m rankings. I struggled to get into a good rhythm and the 10 seemed hard to hit. Ended up with 1133 out of 1200. For the Sunday we had individual elimination match play. After a bye and 2 matches I was in the gold medal match against Liam who had come through his matches with some good shooting. I managed to shoot 144/150 points for the win.

After having to run through Melbourne airport to catch our connecting flight back to Christchurch on our way home from the Australian Youth Nationals it felt easy getting on a domestic flight to Auckland.
I was representing New Zealand in the Oceania Championships that were held last week 🇳🇿.
The tournament started with practice followed by the first 720 round, with some beautiful windy Auckland weather I only shot 602, this put me 4 points behind Henry for the first day.
On day 2 we had the second 720 round, it started with windy conditions again but not as bad as the first day, I was struggling to find my rhythm and forgot to change back to my normal way of shooting after the wind of the previous day. After this I only scored 656.
In the afternoon we had round robin individual matchplay where I won all 3 matches.
Day 3 was teams matchplay, I was teamed up with Henry. These were elimination matches and we were up against the open category archers as well. We managed to win a couple of matches (even with both my self and Henry missing an arrow in the wind) and found ourselves in the gold medal match against Gary and Corban. We tried our best but lost this match by only 3 points.
The last day was the individual gold medal match against Henry. In the windy conditions it was anyone’s match to win. I started with one point up in the first end but with a couple of unlucky shots in the wind Henry took the win by 3 points.
It was a great experience and would love to do it again!

Last day of the Australian Youth Nationals was epic. Today was individual matchplay. Once we got going I had a bye first which was nice as a bit of extra warmup. After this I got through all the matches and elimination rounds without dropping any points. I had another clean round in the gold medal match but so did my opponent Logan Wolfe (great shooting by the way). It turned into a one arrow shoot off to determine who wins. Both of us shot an X but mine was a bit closer to the centre 🥇. Overall I am very happy with my results from this tournament and made some great new friends.

Yesterday I had another day at the Australian Yourh Nationals. I did get to watch Mieke win her 720 in the morning which was nice. In the afternoon I had a 720 round first where I shot 710/720 at 40m for the win 🥇in windy conditions. After this I had doubles match play, under the spot lights as the daylight had disappeared. I was teamed up with Lilly Helleren. We worked our way through the matches and ended up in the gold/ silver medal match. After a thrilling match we had a one arrow shoot off! With lots of support from behind the line we again came away with the win🥇
Last day of shooting today with the individual match play. Looking forward to it 🏹

Today was the second day of the Australian Youth Nationals. I shot the field round today. This was my very first time shooting a field round properly. I came away with a 389 out of a possible 432, shooting from the blue pegs. I am very happy with this result. This has put me in 1st place for field and I hope to continue this good shooting into the 720 tomorrow.

I have been training hard with the Australian youth nationals coming up followed up with the Oceania Championships. We decided a quick break from this would be good so headed up into the hills to find a roaring stag. After hunting hard for 3 days nothing turned up but still pleased with our efforts and looking forward to what’s to come.
