Kiaora crew. Im looking at returning to Queenstown,
Invercargil and Dunedin, as well at 2 x Chch clinics for my Next Step group casting clinics.

First introduced in 2007, Chris’ ‘Next Step’ clinics are directed at the self taught angler, or those who may have been fishing for a while, and are looking to progress, improve and expand their fly casting skill set. Its no fun to plateau, or hit a wall, and so the aim of ‘Next Step’ is to teach progression through good form mechanics and learn just what we can do with our modern day fly rod. Fly casting is so much more than your typical 40’ overhead cast. This is a four hour session.

“Next Step” 4 hour modules may include:

- Introduction to casting mechanics
- The 5 essentials of fly casting
- Stance and grip variations
- Better backcasts and overhead technique
- Common faults and self diagnosis
- Roll casting improvements
- Introduction to distance and the double haul
- Slack line and presentation techniques
- Specialist casts for specific situations
- Dealing with the wind
- Single handed speys
- An introduction to Two Handed fly casting
- How to practise

Whilst this clinic is focused towards the intermediate to advanced angler, instructors and guides no doubt the novice fly caster will benefit somewhat from its content. I would however, reccomend the beginner seek private lessons beforehand, in order to get up to speed.

Spaces are limited to 5 participants per
Clinic to allow ample one on one time
In a personal environment, more importantly to improve your own understanding and teaching skills.

PM me or touch base through www.chrisdore.com to secure your limited space.

Quick tip - store your most used hooks and beads in a $5 pill organiser from your local pharmacy. Not only will your hooks and beads all be together and ready for quick use with no searching and time wasting, but you can instantly tell which sizes need a top up for your upcoming sessions. Here I have the following

B175 size 14 and 16
B110 size 12, 14 and 16
B405 or 170 size 16 and 18.

Black Tungsten beads from 2mm - 4.5mm and gold beads in 2.5 and 3.5mm

🌧️ Even the ducks are thinking it's a bit much! 🦆

⚠️ Severe weather warnings, including a Red alert, are in place across much of the South Island and parts of the lower North Island, and conditions could change quickly.

If you’re in one of the affected areas we recommend you delay your trip. If you are heading out, before you go make sure to check the latest weather and track conditions on Plan My Walk. Pack an emergency communications device, and be ready to change your plans or turn around if conditions aren't what you expected.

Remember, it can take time for tracks to be checked after heavy rain and wind. You may be the first to come across slips, flooding, and fallen trees. Report any concerns to DOC or the local council, and leave a track review in Plan My Walk so others know track conditions 📱

Sometimes the safest call is to save the adventure for another (hopefully drier) day.

Something that matters a lot to me. They made mums last days so bloody special. But there is little funding. If you could please vote to hopefully get Otago Hospice solar power that would help them a lot.

Im sorry, I dont do this on my page but the way these guys make the final days of loved ones count, I want to do this

Please VOTE for Otago Community Hospice !!!!
We have been nominated to receive free Think Solar solar system at our North Road Hospice in Dunedin - this would make a HUGE difference to the cost of running our inpatient unit. Please follow the link below and consider giving your vote to us
