WORLD RECORDS!!! Well done to Bethany and Laeti, who are the current reigning World Record holders in the new 200m Backstroke ice swimming event. This is the first time this age-group event has been swum, so winning their age groups today makes them (unratified) world record holders. Massive shout out too to Anneke who swam the 500m freestyle today, and is on the world record hunt tomorrow in the 200m breaststroke! Well done team! The ladies also have their own paparazzi, thanks to James and Marijn for these photos!

Shout out to our Ice swimmers competing this week in Alexandra! You guys are the best! We’ve definitely got a cold water swimming advantage here in the south of the South Island, and know you have all been training hard over the last few months! Have fun racing!

🥶NZ & Oceania Ice Swimming Championship🥶

The country's toughest cold-water swimmers are arriving at the Alexandra Pool this Wednesday 15 July.

For the third time, our outdoor pool will host this extreme four-day endurance championship where top athletes will brave freezing water measuring under 5°C to chase national titles, Oceania honours, and selection for world events.

We invite our local community to come along and witness this extreme sport up close.

Well done to all the swimmers at the winter edition this morning! Massive thanks to Richie and Lucas for organising this brilliant event! We had a perfect morning for swimming and everyone had a great time in the water. Thanks to the for coffee and to the Legend team for hot chocolate and wonderful biscuits. Everyone warmed up afterwards around the heaters and had a great time getting feeling back into their extremities!! What a fun Saturday morning 🥳

Huge shout out to Neil Drouet for completing his challenge when the Queenstown pool was closed. Neil headed to Wanaka and put in a massive 12km session to tip over 100km! Well done Neil!

SLSC have 3 swimmers doing the big swim for Coastguard this year: Paul Jaquin, Laura Soulsby and Neil Drouet.

Coastguard Queenstown have been a great ally of our club this year, supporting events like the Pigeon Island Swim (even saving our safety kayakers!) and Whakatipu Legend, and being around most Saturdays keeping an eye on the water while we swim. They rely on donations and memberships to support their hard work, so let's give back to them!

Well done to our wonderful swimmers this morning. We had 6 swimmers in 9.5° water. It was raining hard so we got wet both in and out of the water. No swim at the Frankton Swim Lane next Saturday, we’ll all be at the winter edition at Queenstown Bay. Check it out!!
