🕯️ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – TEEJ FESTIVAL 2026 CANCELLED
With profound sadness, Queenstown Nepalese Society Incorporated announces the cancellation of Teej Festival 2026, scheduled for Saturday, 12 September 2026. In light of the devastating flash floods in Nepal and the immense loss of life, we believe this is a time for mourning, remembrance, solidarity and support. 🇳🇵
Instead, we warmly invite our Nepalese community, friends, local leaders and the wider Queenstown community to join us for a Candlelight Vigil & Memorial Service:

We will remember those who have lost their lives, pray for those still missing, and stand together with the families and communities affected by this tragedy. A Disaster Relief & Fundraising Initiative will also be launched to support relief efforts in Nepal.

Devastating flash floods have struck Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and surrounding areas in Nepal, taking lives, homes and livelihoods. Families are facing loss and hardship right now. 🙏
NRNA New Zealand is raising funds for emergency relief, and we are reaching out to everyone our Nepali community, our friends from all other communities, and our Kiwi friends, families and neighbours. In times like these, kindness knows no borders.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference to a family in need.

As part of our Meet the Team series for the Tenzing Hillary Cup, 2026 - 11th edition, we are proud to introduce Simrik United FC , based in Queenstown.
Formed in 2018 by a group of passionate footballers, Simrik United FC was established with a shared vision of bringing together Nepalese individuals who love the beautiful game. Built on the values of unity, teamwork, and community, the club proudly represents the Nepalese community through sportsmanship and cultural pride, both on and off the field.
We are excited to welcome Simrik United FC to this year’s Tenzing Hillary Cup and look forward to witnessing their resilience, passion, and renewed energy on display at the 11th Edition.
