Every day, someone crosses the line first. And every day, someone crosses it last. At SLU, both get the exact same reception.

This is camp gathered around, clapping in whoever's still out there - tired legs, mud on their boots, day done. Doesn't matter if you're first or last, fresh or absolutely spent. When you come into camp, everyone stops what they're doing and claps you home.

That's the culture here. Nobody finishes alone, and nobody finishes unnoticed.

Some couples spend their days off having a quiet weekend at home.

This husband and wife spend theirs racing km through the mountains together and moments like this make it clear why.

Dirt on the arms, gear still on, a hug that says more than any finish time could. This is what it means to share something this hard with the person you love most.

That's the beauty of SLU - for some, it's not just an individual pursuit, it's something they take on side by side.

Day and night, they’re working 24/7 to make sure race week runs smoothly and every detail lands just right.

Most people see the event. They help make it happen.

These two… one loved the flats, the other came alive in the mountains.

Different strengths, same fire.
They raced. They traded places. They played cat and mouse all the way through the stages, neither giving an inch, both pulling the best out of each other.

Coming from the flat lands of Holland, the mountains aren’t his favourite, but he takes them on anyway. The flat stages, the views, and the people keep him coming back… now lining up for his third Southern Lakes Ultra.
