Queen & King of the Bay
Team Relay
Not quite ready for the full 30km Queen & King of the Bay?
Grab a mate and take it on together!
The Team Relay is a great way to experience the event, share the distance and build towards taking on the full course in the future.
Paddler One takes on the 20km journey from Marahau to Kina Beach, where they tag their teammate.
Paddler Two then jumps in for the final 10km from Kina Beach to Māpua, joining everyone at the finish.
It’s still 30km across the bay, you just get to share the adventure!
Find a paddling mate, decide who gets the 20km and who gets the 10km, and get training. Whether you're stepping up to a new distance, looking for a fun challenge, or simply keen to be part of the Queen & King of the Bay, the Team Relay is for you.
Two paddlers. Two legs. One adventure.

Great guides here from the Surfski School. As we head back towards summer and being out in more challenging conditions. Step 3 practice every time you get in your ski so it's second nature.

In a few days' time, I'll be back on the Yukon River racing alongside Sophie Hart as Team Furtuna Skin, taking on one of the world's toughest endurance paddle races. We can't wait to get back to the start line.
Preparing for this race has been an adventure in itself. There have been glassy mornings, wild storms, hard interval sessions, long endurance paddles, and everything in between. I've spent countless hours on the water, and I've loved every part of the journey.
Now comes the part where preparation meets reality.
You can train as hard as you like, plan every detail, and do everything you can to be ready, but there is only one way to find out. On July 10 we'll push away from the start line, and over the days that follow I'll discover whether the work has been enough.
Whatever happens, I already feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to prepare for an adventure like this. Results matter, but they are never the whole story.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this campaign. Whether you've paddled alongside me, sent messages of encouragement, helped behind the scenes, or simply followed the journey, I'm deeply grateful. These adventures are never achieved alone.
I'm also incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported my Sponsor a Mile fundraiser. The idea is simple: sponsor one mile of the Yukon1000 for $10, with all funds going towards creating opportunities for young people through adventure. Together we're now closing in on $2,000, which is amazing.
I know not everyone is in a position to support financially, and that's completely okay. But if you're able to sponsor just one mile, or perhaps a few, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps invest in the next generation of young adventurers.
I'll post updates from the Yukon whenever I can over the coming days. Thanks again for all the encouragement and support, it means more than you know.
If you'd like to sponsor a mile for $10, I'd be incredibly grateful. I'll put the link in the comments below.
See you on the Yukon.

Nathan and Sophie are on their way. May the wind be on their back.
Can you sponsor one mile for $10?
SPONSOR A MILE
From July 10th, I'll be taking on the Yukon1000, the world's longest paddle race.
That's 1,000 miles (1,600km) of paddling through the remote wilderness of Canada and Alaska.
I'm not just paddling for the challenge. I'm paddling to raise $10,000 for Pasifika youth in the Tasman region through the Fa'avae Pasifika Fund.
The idea is simple:
$10 = 1 mile
1,000 miles = $10,000 goal
Every dollar makes a difference
I'm asking my friends, family, and followers if they can sponsor just one mile.
$10 might be a coffee & cookie, a b**r, or a small treat, but together those small contributions can create opportunities for young people through education, health initiatives, mentoring, and personal development.
All funds raised will go into the Fa'avae Pasifika Fund, held by the Top of the South Community Foundation, creating a lasting impact for future generations.
