Wests is proud to support The Kai Ika Project – Cans for Kai by recycling aluminum cans to help feed local families.
The Kai Ika project collects fish heads and frames that were previously under utilised, to share with local families who value these nutritious parts as kai.
The money from recycled aluminum cans goes back into the project to divert more kaimoana away from waste and onto dinner tables.
2kgs of cans = enough kaimoana for 1 family meal.
Wests has a drop off crate at the back of the clubrooms, come down any time with your crushed aluminum cans, when the club is open we also have a Cans for Kai wheelie bin, when in the club please crush your cans and drop them in the red wheelie bin. We will still recycle our glass and plastics just as before.

Team Lightning finished an impressive 3rd in their pool at the Wynton Rufer tournament, showcasing not only their football ability but also their determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day.
The players faced every challenge with a positive attitude, never giving up and supporting one another from the first whistle to the last. They demonstrated great skill on the field, continued to improve with every game, and represented our club with pride, sportsmanship and respect.
We're incredibly proud of the effort, growth and commitment shown by every player. This tournament was a fantastic experience that will help build confidence and create lasting memories for the team.
A massive thank you to Coach Pat for everything you do for the kids getting them tournament ready. Also to the parents that provided support in the lead up and on the day!

The club is on the search for a chest freezer for use at the clubrooms. Preferably a chest freezer but we could also make an upright freezer work too.
If any club members are looking to upgrade or know where we can source one please touch base.
Also are there any club members that work at Whittakers?
Reach out if you can help out, email [email protected]
Thanks Jo
