🖤💛 Brad's Back!

Our deepest condolences to the Patelesio family, and to our wider Catholic, Tokelau and Samoan communities, following the passing of Father Kolo Penehe Patelesio.

For many years, Fr Penehe faithfully served our communities, including through Holy Family Church in Cannons Creek and recently Our Lady of Kāpiti. His presence, spiritual guidance and commitment to serving our people left a lasting mark on the many communities he was part of.

From the Norths Rugby whānau, we also acknowledge and honour the support Fr Penehe gave to our club and our players. With Holy Family Church just down the road from our clubrooms in Cannons Creek, there was a strong connection between the church and our club community.

Fr Penehe was a familiar and respected presence around our people. He supported our members and our wider community, with many of his family members apart of the club.

We give thanks for his years of service, his faith, his kindness and the many lives he touched throughout our community.

Ia manuia lau malaga, Fr Penehe. You have been a good and faithful servant.

Northern United Rugby Football Club extends its deepest condolences to the whānau of To'osavili Nigel Bickle and all who mourn his passing.

Today, Porirua has lost one of its own.

Raised in Porirua, an old boy of Bishop Viard College, then Victoria University before carving a 30 year career in central government, serving in senior leadership roles including Acting Chief Executive of the Department of Labour, Acting Chief Executive of the Department of Building and Housing, Deputy Chief Executive of Immigration New Zealand, and leading the Provincial Development Unit before moving to Hastings

Nigel was a devoted husband to Erica, a treasured father to Mel, Jess, Ellen & Hannon, Paul & Kelly, Grandad to Phoenix, Riley, Jett & Harper, and Ko to Gigi and Baby Bickle (due in September), and a much-loved son, brother and uncle. Nigel devoted his life to the service of others.

Nigel carried the values of our city with him throughout a lifetime of public service. From humble beginnings, he rose to become one of Aotearoa's most respected public sector leaders, never forgetting the importance of serving people and strengthening communities.

His journey reminds us that greatness is not measured by titles alone, but by the impact we have on the lives of others. Nigel's leadership, humility, and commitment to service will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

To his whānau, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched, we extend our heartfelt aroha and deepest sympathy.

Moe mai rā, e te rangatira. Haere atu rā i runga i te rangimārie. Ka maumaharatia koe e tō kāinga tupu o Porirua me ngā hapori maha i whakarangatira e koe.
