I wrote these 7 guiding principles for your yoga practice many years ago and they have recently emerged - they still resonate.
No matter where we start our yoga practice from, our goal is to deepen our self-awareness through the integration of breath, body and mind.
- value your uniqueness
- you too can change
- everything is practice
- be your breath
- come from your centre
- be full present
- align yourself

This morning, on my drive in to teach yoga I was listening to this, which is sort of a go to for me.
The power of mantra is beautiful and with my desire always to sing gospel but not finding my thing, I found it with mantra through kundalini.
The Guru Ram Das mantra is a sacred Kundalini yoga chant known as the "Miracle Mantra". It translates to the wisdom that guides from darkness to light and connects the practitioner to the healing, protective grace and humility of Guru Ram Das

I was watching a very brief post about a yogi's realisation that yoga is more than fancy or strong poses, its about moving with the breath. of course it is, but it is also a reminder to me that we forget to connect with our breath a lot, for me it has kinda become second nature now. But let's remember our breath really is a giant key to unlocking who we are - inhale, suspend, exhale, suspend and be in the space.

I realised today when I got home from teaching yoga - pants on inside out.... again!!!
always up for a laugh at myself. :-)
Ahimsa, non-violence has been our focus the last few classes. The first yama of the 8-limbed practice of yoga. I came across the 8 limbs close on 25 years ago and it has been the foundation that has stuck with me, it just makes perfect sense and it's incredibly practical. Well worth a read and a reflection, I'd certainly encourage it.
Happy mid-July.....

A funny yoga class last night, or maybe not the class but the beginning. I’d done my reflections and thought we would have a class themed around communicating. The funny bit was I had a challenge getting everyone quiet at the beginning- so much chatting which is lovely as they are a strong community. We did have a giggle but then we got reflective on authentic communication and the practice of satya. 😁
I hope they all slept well - I certainly did.
