The new proposed CVSC at Mackay's Crossing is creating even more of an unsafe environment on the small road between QEP and Whareroa Park as they now have all the trucks using the interchange, with trucks now going BOTH ways through the underpass.

They do not know exactly how many trucks will be pulled off, but at the Open Day yesterday they said they thought around 8 trucks per hour but at peak times it could be up to 40 trucks an hour?

This, along with the extra traffic from Paekakariki using the underpass to get onto Transmission Gully is going to mean a huge increase in the motorized use of what at the moment is just a small rural road linking 2 beautiful, recreational parks.

Hi. More news on the interchange.

Firstly at the Community Board meeting on the 6 October, NZTA presented an update on TG and outlined interruptions expected for the local community.

They are building an asphalt plant at the Sandpit site to surface TG. This will mean 120 trucks a day leaving the Sandpit and using the Mackay's underpass (both there and back) for 9 months from the end of November.

These trucks will leave the Sandpit, use the new slip road, go under the underpass and up TG to deliver the asphalt. Then the empty trucks will head back down the shoulder of the southbound entrance into the expressway, which will become 2-way, back west through the underpass to the slip road to return for more asphalt, 24/7 (maybe not Sunday)

And then another development - He also talk about NZTA possibly getting rid of the northbound on ramp at QEP.

It was suggested that this person also be at the CVSC open day to explain all this
