They are a very tough side and a great challenge for any team. While we are looking to keep our own momentum and a spot at the top of the table :)

Also with a little announcement we are under new naming sponsor with Upshot NZ Limited the local and friendly accountants taking over to make sure all our scoring is kept in check :)

Last weekends recap. Legends VS Marlins

We had first game back on the skin diamond after council had put in new drainage in the outfield that should mean less rain off days! Also the skin diamond has had some work done on the join to outfield and plenty of grooming by Vance and his team it looked awesome!!

We had a pretty full team with a DR for the old lads to use and subs... this I can get used too!!! We started in the field and the talk before the game was to keep runs scored against low and keep that early momentum We have started with. After a clean first inning in the field we came in to bat Jamie at his lead off spot got on with a hit, Simon worked a walk and then the hits started coming. After 1 it was 8 -0.

The lads in the field kept the ball in front and were taking outs and Paraia in the outfield with a diving catch to the foul territory fence was backing Lee up on the hill. With the stick Jamie stuck one out in the 3rd for a solo shot adding to his HR tally and the first over the fence for the season for the comp. The other sticks working and for all of Macs solid pitching the lads with just jumping on any strike close and finding gaps.

Coming into the 3rd inning Marlins had gotten a run in by some heads up and fast base running and a determined Wes. Bottom third Wes also came in to pitch giving up a walk and a blooper while cold before Jamie would do it again with a walk off 3R HR to end the game taking his tally to 3 from 3 weeks... final score 17 - 1

Lads are working to a good game plan teams are still fresh and getting eyes in and it is early in the season so plenty of ball to be played yet! We not getting ahead of ourselves but it is a good start 🙂

Thanks to our sponsors Upshot NZ Limited for their continued support keeping the lads refreshed and on the diamond.

Game 2 for the lads and the late game of 4pm last week.

The Team we always battle well with Pirates Softball .Est20 definitely came to play. They chose to bat first and we had Lee on the hill with recent call up Roger Marshman in catching duties held them to 1 run. Papa Mo's Legends turn to bat started strong with early hits to Simon, Roger, Lee, Mike, and other recruit Liam Marshman (stolen from baseball) clearing the bases with a stand up triple and after 1 it was 6-1

2nd inning we held them down and got a couple more runs through hits to Jamie, Simon and Roger... But the 3rd inning Pirates woke up and went on run of hits bloopers, Texas leaugers, and gap shots to put on 7 runs to even it up 8-8

The lads kept their cool and keep hitting all through the order with Andrew finishing the day with a safe bunt (RBI) another 2B (2RBI) and tough battles and young Liam working a BB and a safe hit ensuring all through the order 1 to 9 runs were coming in. Pirates also scoring a couple more runs for a tough fun battle and final score of 13 - 10 for Tauranga Legends Softball

2 from 2 lads now enjoy the long weekend off. When we back we will be on KB's field and get stuck back in.

Again thanks to the sponsors without the boys would look silly and be unhydrated

Papa Mo's - Great food great atmosphere in Papamoa
Upshot NZ Limited - Local accountants doing the bits you don't like so you focus on the bits you do :)

First game back and the lads showed up!!!

We returned to the diamond and back to the park this year and Papa Mo's Legends took on a new side to the comp Rotoiti Steelers. The club itself is one around for a long time I discovered this is there centerian year so thats awesome.

We have a few new faces and started with a good lineup and subs (a novelty we didn't have last year) which is great. On the mound to kick things off was the younger fitter version of Alan and the new fielders did well and took a couple of ground outs and a K to start the game.

We came into bat and Jaimie lead off with a first pitch hit and the rest of the lads took the que. Hits through the team saw us up 10 runs after 1 inning.

The game then settled down a bit with tight fielding by both and some of our lads pushing singles to doubles or trying at least cough cough Jordan and kaide...

Rotoiti got on the board in the 3rd with some good at bats and a nice triple to Peter Kingi bringing himself an RBI. They had some good gloves in the field and you can see there is some real softball skills there look forward too playing them again later in the season.

Good start lads winners 11-3 inside of 5 innings

Thanks again to our sponsors

It's that time again where we dust off the cleats check for holes in the bats and tell ourselves this is our year we have a chance we all start on even points!

Head to KBs field and try and do the name and club founder proud! This year we hope the weather plays its part and the season kicks off without a hitch.

If you are interested in jumping in with a bunch of lads who have played enjoy the game, a beer and a win get in touch preseason yarns, beers and the odd throw are about the start

A nostalgic photo from back in the day for likes and interest haha

After yet another year effected this time by weather we are having to condense our finals again after a rain out of semi finals weekend.

This weekend sees semis and final played at the park. With Papa Mo's Legends taking on Selwyn Raiders softball at 1230pm.

Winner goes through to the final the other team to the Beer tent. It has been a horrible year of rain, catch i0 games and only having played on our fields 3 times and number 1 diamond once this year. It will be good to be at the park and have a good shot at the Raiders lads.

Either way will be a great game and some great ball. Which we could not have done this year without our sponsors Papa Mo's and Upshot NZ Limited who have been very good and helpful in a year where we have struggled to get results and updates out.

This weekend the sun is out and we get to play ball...

We will be playing down at Otumoetai College top field as our park is still a bit boggy and wet.

However, Papa Mo's Legends will be taking on the top of table Selwyn Raiders for the last game of the day at 4pm. The lads are looking forward to getting back on the diamond and making a charge up the leader board after a couple of slips in the few games we have played.

Will be good to help update more this half of the year as long as the weather plays ball! Draw and updates brought to you by Upshot NZ Limited

It's been a struggle for the first part of the season just getting games in with all the wet and soggy conditions. We have played at the park once and at the school once.

Last weekend Papa Mo's Legends took on an old foe in Te puna United always a great game with a great family team.

Young Rikaiah Te Whero took the mound and had all the lads at the top chasing for the first 2 innings. We kept thier bats quiet too thanks to Lee and some great infield work.

After 3 innings it was only a 0-1 game to the Te Puna lads. Mike Setefano was the only one of us to get on (through catchers interference) first time through the order. 4th inning Simon Bruce was up made the adjustment and was able to slide in for a triple.

The lads were hitting just to people or were getting caught out on the young lads rise ball. The Te puna lads were starting to make contact and although the outfield were making some good catches (and one dropped one to center fielder - sorry lads) the score crept out to 0-3 for a good win to Te Puna.

Enjoy the break lads hopefully more sun and we are back home in January. Be safe and enjoy family time

Special thanks to our sponsors Upshot NZ Limited and Papa Mo's sorry this half has been rained out and a little lost... plenty of softball to come in the new year
