Paeroa Rangers

👋 thanks again for making it over the hill today to our last club game for the season.

First and foremost thanks for the support and encouragement of ur child’s interest getting them out there doing what they love, always a pleasure to c the support and effort u all put in.

This season again always a pleasure to see the effort and improvements from the players throughout the season. Always a thrill to c them happy whether the result isnt in there favour the main thing again there out there doing it and enjoying it.

Today was another tough day over at Whiti, they play some expansive footy which reflects the end result. Again some great structural play along with individual brilliance which put the pressure on early resulting on being on the back foot and followed through though out the game.

We again came back with our own attributes, created many opportunities, some finding the net and the rest building on their experiences and profile, always something to build from.

POTD: Elijah, Elijah again like many games puts a top effort in, creates something from nothing with his skillset, reads the game well giving his team opportunities to succeed.

POTD Whiti to Paeroa.
Lane, Lane was noted in his efforts to continuously to find a way / try find a way through the defensive line and create opportunities in which he did twice, once beating four players to find the net.

Archer: Archer showed great sportsmanship on occasions, one of those being as Elijah was subbed off he made a comment to Elijah that he made a ‘good effort’

POTM:
Elijah, 2 potd’s this month, again admired his efforts and general play which is a great asset to the team and performance.

👋 thanks for making it over the hills today. A top effort from u to get ur children there playing the sport they enjoy.

Another great game again against the MB Sharks. Like past games always a challenge.
They won the toss and kicked off and straight away passed the ball back to there midfield through to there backs showing the structure they had. They did this well throughout the game, space created by great positioning noted along with some individual brilliance from one player in particular Shreiko who scored all 5 of there goals.

Again like last week we were in the same position 2-0 down early but again penetrated the defence with some sharp timely short passing which is a pleasure to watch and went into the break 2-2.
Again some strong early attacking from the Sharks in the second half with two more finding the net, we again utilised the ball well at times too finding the net with Sharks having the final say.

POTD:
Devon, Devon took advantage of having more game time like her team mates given we just had the one sub this week. She challenged every opportunity, this big effort gave her more time on the ball on attack along with disrupting the flow of the opposition taking on anyone with the ball, winning some challenges and passing into her team mates.

POTD Whit to Paeroa.
Jamal. Jamals energetic nature is always a threat. His ability to get anywhere on the field from any position into the opposite in quick time is impressive. Second half he played in goal and showed his classy diving ability.

POTD Paeroa to Whiti.
Although its not all about scoring goals it was the way Shreiko went about it. His overall skillset is right up there, great read of the game, where and when to pass, ability to shape one way but go the other way beating defenders is impressive to watch.

Thanks again for the effort and support, Glen for subbing duty, Sarah car pooling and Toni for the few weeks half time snacks.

Saturday 1st August.

Another tricky opponent, always a challenge against MB.
Last week we didn’t quite get the ball into the right spot giving away possession and found it tough to get through the defence so was impressed with us making more use of the ball this week finding the net, players clicked, some great assists by numerous players, great short passing beating numerous defenders was great to see. Both teams had two turns at leading, anyones game, a fair outcome in the end.

POTD: Jamal - Jamal found his top form again yesterday, his ability to get around the field in record time to put pressure on his opponent’s whether in defence or attack is great to watch, a hatrick of goals!

POTM: Charlie, we all know Charlie save’s the day and is a big reason for our success. Yesterday again u may have thought the advantage is with the attacking team however he reads the play well and gets anything out quick smart to denying the opposition many goals. Another outstanding game.

Thank u Devon for stepping in for the Stingrays injuries breaks given they had no subs.

Thank u parents for ur help and pitching in for food, we do well making the effort to feed our visitors well, goes with the memories of the match.

👋 the elements a bit wetter today than we’ve had but we were still was able to get the ball rolling.

Given us and Hauraki finished top of Westside and both the Whiti Sharks & Stingray’s top of the table Eastside any game now will be a tough challenge and indeed it was today, there were similarities to how both teams played out there today, both teams had good ball and opportunities early and throughout the first half but none quite found the net heading into the half 0-0.
Second half was no different for a while until halfway through finally the Sharks struck, we then received numerous corner kicks putting the heat on and struck ourselves off the 3rd one with a scoreline of 1-1 with 10mins to go. Some individual brilliance from a Shark took it on himself to cut through our defence and shoot along with a bit of misfortune as the ball came off our own player finding the net with 2mins to go, the clock defined the end score but a deserved Sharks win, I felt they just held there positions a bit better than us, seemed to always have one more player in defence but a tight one overall that could have gone either way so well done team for keeping it up, not giving up giving it a good go.

POTD: Anket & Aneka, the Sharks were a couple players short today only having 8 so these two players stepped up and played half a game each to field our general 9v9 game so great effort thanks, great sportsmanship along with been beneficial for their development and more game time.

👋 took a bit to defrost this morning if u weren’t running around out there.

U13’s a 9aside game however Thames only had eight players so I agreed I’d only play eight too with us having two subs.
Again Thames put the heat on early with some great passing and finding space leading to numerous opportunities however we did well at times to just get to block along with Charles saves and a few of there shots that either went wide and a couple hitting the posts.
We also created some good space with timely passing and individual brilliance and made a couple of our opportunities count leading at the half 0-2.
Thames have always had a nack to hit back and have a better looking scoreline difference in the second half and today was no different. They displayed a great short passing game, one touch control then pass which gave them good fast possession with the ball up our end and a few opportunities finally hit the net.
We displayed similar attributes as well however fell a bit short dealing with Thames continuous pressure with a final score of:

POTD:
Devon: We know what Devon can bring to the team and saw a bit more of that today, a bit of everything at times which was great to see, look forward the consistency like her top attendance strike-rate.

POTM - May - Lane:
Lane’s ability to create opportunities from great positioning or even poor or busy ball is pretty special to watch, he has the ability to beat numerous players and find the net, he has been a big reason of our success so far this season with 22 goals this term and look forward to seeing some more top footy.

POTM - June - Alfie:
As Alfie’s mother has said in the past years its a bit frustrating at times not seeing enough urgency or aggression given his nature however last year we started to see glimpses of him doing the exact opposite. This year definitely, he is now one of our strongest defenders. He is on the ball quick and backs himself more to beat his opposition, utilise the ball more, and give good ball up to his team mates which is a pleasure to see the improvements.

Thank you for ur support this term, food at home games, help with subbing, packing up etc. All appreciated and part of ur child’s interest and development.

Will be in touch Monday week to see what players are around for a training either the Tues or Thurs.

👋 another rippers winters day for it.

Initially we were dealt a bye however between Carl from the Whiti Sharks and myself we worked something out to get the available and keen out there doing it, they traveled to us so big thanks for that.
The Sharks started well with early ball down our end with a few opportunities including a free kick in the box but they hit the bar twice and went wide, we then had our turn with possession down there end and made a couple opportunities count and lead at the break 2-1.
Both teams again played some great footy, found the net 3x each, some of our short pass game was great to watch along with some individual brilliance again and we finished up with a 5-4 win.

POTD: Noah for us Rangers and Piata from the Sharks.

👋 another ripper day for it (Sat 20th June)

Another close game this week, we started well which helped making our opportunities count and thats what can win games, 2-0 up early and lead 2-1 at the break.
The game could have gone either way as some good all round footy from both teams along with some errors giving possession away keeping the scoreline close the whole way.
When we played Whanga in the first game of the season we came out on top 10-3 so well done Whanga some great improvements.

👋 ripper day for winter sports.

Another close game this week hosting our rivals Rangers Black.
We started well with more gd footy leading to early opportunities and lead at the break 2-1.
Black hit back early in the second half to even the score line, we used the ball well again at times and hit back with 3 more goals and lead 5-2 for a bit until a couple errors which let Black bk into the game closing the gap by one goal but managed to hold on and took the win 5-4 so well done.

A bit more of a challenge today, great close game.
We came into it like any other, gave it a good go, plenty of great footy, created plenty of opportunities, plenty of individual brilliance however the Hauraki’s defence just seemed to always get back in good time, have numbers present & hold on & we received our first taste of the lower end of the score board today.
A game we should have won but wasn’t our day, things clicked for Hauraki along with a bit of shooting luck and that was the difference.

👋 thanks for making it over today.

Today was our biggest challenge so far. Thames got themselves into positions where they had countless opportunities on goal however some defence, especially our goalies were just in the right place at the right time to save the day so things didn’t quite go to plan for Thames.
We again had both more great individual brilliance and team work to get the ball up the field to create our own opportunities and went into the half 0-4 up.
Like in past years Thames have a nak of bouncing back in the second half and today was no different, they again put the heat on and made some of their opportunities count however we carried on dishing out our moves and finished up with a 4-8 win.
