Lest we forget the sacrifices our ancestors have made for us to be here today🌹🌺
In the hush of this morning,
we gather in remembrance.
E kore rawa e warewaretia
Never to be forgotten
Presence carried through time,
held in the breath,
in the whenua beneath us,
in the spaces where words fall away.
We remember.
We honour.
We carry forward.

Some Deep Earth Wisdom
from Thich Nhat Hanh ((🌏)) 💕
"When you are mindful of the Earth, you are mindful of yourself. When you realize there is no separation, you fall completely in love with this beautiful planet. Looking deeply, one can see that the Earth is the greatest mathematician, the most accomplished artisan, and the most talented architect.
We don't need to die to go back to Mother Earth. We are already in Mother Earth. You [also] carry Mother Earth within you. She is not outside of you. Mother Earth is not just your environment."
These teachings are explored deeply in Thich Nhat Hanh's book, "Love Letter to the Earth."
Happy Earth Day

NGAHURU/AUTUMN
As we move deeper, in Aotearoa New Zealand, into Ngahuru, the season of Autumn, the rhythms of nature are beginning to shift. The days are slowly cooling and the focus turns toward gathering kai, and preparing for the quieter winter months ahead.
Crops such as kūmara are traditionally lifted as the weather cools, and gardens begin to transition from growth into preparation for the colder season. It is a great time for pruning trees, clearing beds, saving seeds, and preparing soil and plants for the next cycle of winter.
Autumn Equinox, which was this week, arrives only once a year — a moment when light and darkness come into perfect balance and Earth’s life force begins to slow with softer energy. It is a time to restore balance in your body, align with the energy of autumn, and replenish reserves after the busyness of summer. Autumn Equinox marks a powerful shift in nature as Autumn’s energy begins moving through the Earth and all living things.
Where I live the colour are changing, as are the patterns of nature. Birds such swallows and hawks are circling in the sky riding on the thermals from the sea. Waxeyes visit to help themselves to the ripening figs. Cicadas and grasshoppers are singing. Other insects are busy looking for food. Fruit and vegetables are being harvested, eaten and preserved and our garden tidied and replanted. Sunrises and sunsets are golden and the night sky clear (albeit today is colder and wet). It is a time to be grateful for nature’s abundance.
As Ngahuru/Autumn progresses, days are becoming shorter and darkness longer as energy shifts further. From action, to observing, reflecting and understanding. From growing, to rebuilding.
So make sure you take time to slow down, to observe, reflect, understand and rebuild what you need this Ngahuru/Autumn. Just as trees lose their leaves, Ngahuru/Autumn is a symbolic time for shedding what is no longer needed, to consider what emotional or mental burdens to let go of to preserve energy for the coming winter, and move towards more indoor, reflective activities that support your health and wellbeing.

Is fear a mind killer for you? It certainly has been for me in the past. What do you fear?
How do you allow fear to pass over and through you? Here are three ways to address fear:
🌟Face Fear Gradually: Avoidance empowers fear. Gradually expose yourself to the feared object, belief, or situation, starting with smaller, manageable steps before moving to more challenging ones.
🌟Identify and Challenge the Fear: Name the fear explicitly and contemplate its rationality and source. This can reduce its power over you and help differentiate between real danger and false alarms.
🌟Practice Mindfulness and Action: Shift from fear to action by focusing on the present moment. Use mindfulness techniques, journalling and take small actions toward what will take you forward. This builds confidence and treats fear as a signal to prepare and respond to rather than a signal to stop or react in a way that leaves you feeling disempowered or stressed
And if you need deeper support to address and move through your fears, just reach out 💫💖

How are your kidneys functioning? In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys are considered the "innate foundation" or root of life, storing our vital essence (jing), governing water metabolism, bone health, and reproduction. Associated with the water element, winter, and the emotion of fear, they act as the body's primary reservoir for Yin and Yang energy.
Nourishing the kidneys involves replenishing our jing/essence and balancing Yin/Yang through warming foods, specific herbs, and lifestyle practices. Key strategies include eating black-colored foods (black beans, sesame), using tonics like Goji berries and teas, keeping the lower back warm, and practicing gentle movement like qigong to avoid exhaustion.
A balanced kidney in TCM represents the emotional state of profound inner calm, security, and wisdom, overcoming fear to cultivate confidence, willpower, and a deep connection to life. It is the foundation of courage, mental strength, and the ability to feel safe and secure within oneself, replacing fear or insecurity. 💖💫
