, Symon Welfringer , and Siebe Vanhee have completed the historic first ascent of the west face of Tahu Rutum in Pakistan.
Initiated by Siebe Vanhee - El Vikingo , the team spent 13 days in capsule style to make the most of a tight weather window. They freed every single pitch on the steep headwall, facing technical difficulties up to 7b.
Their new route, « The Leopard of Higher Ground » climbs 1,500 meters of previously untouched, vertical terrain. With a dramatic silhouette reminiscent of Patagonia, Tahu Rutum’s summit had only been reached once before—back in 1977 by a Japanese team.
