Did you know prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in New Zealand, and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in men?

We didn’t. 😳

So when Blue September came along with a challenge to help tackle those stats, we thought, “Yep, we can ride bikes. How hard can 739km be?”

Turns out… probably harder than we’d like to admit. 😂

The challenge is simple: cycle 739km over September and get your mates to back you.

So we’re giving it a crack as a team and what a team we’ve assembled! 🚴‍♂️💙

Getting all three of us in the same place long enough to take a photo, however, proves to maybe be significantly harder than the 739km.

So you’ll just have to make do with this highly accurate version of what we may or may not actually look like. 😂

739km. Three mates. One slightly questionable amount of optimism.
Let’s do this! 💙🚴‍♂️

We like Merida bikes.
We like them A LOT.
We ride them.
We sell them.
We fix them.
We talk about them in social situations…
Sorry if you didn't actually ask about bikes. 😬

And sometimes…
we just sit quietly and stare at them. 👀
Well, Steve does...👀

Yep. We really rate them.

🔵Turns out our mates at Marin are also partial to a bit of colour!🔵
Check out this Neon / Blue Bobcat Trail 3 Limited Edition - with graphics by UK pop artist ‘Thumbs’.
It’s bright. It’s bold. It’s a little bit fancy.
Basically… a bike with main character energy. 💙💥
We’re into it. 😎

Fresh delivery of Rude Coffee this week from our wonderful local supplier, Jae Energy Coaching & Reiki ☕️
Because cycling and coffee go together like… 🚲☕️
pedals and pastries?
chains and caffeine?
two wheels and a flat white?
You get the idea. 😆
We love Rude Coffee for the taste first and foremost, but it also ticks a few pretty important boxes - NZ made, Fair Trade, and packed with good stuff to help avoid that usual “WHY DID I DRINK THAT COFFEE?” feeling afterwards. 😂
And naturally, we take our coffee seriously here at Hub & Sprocket.
In fact, someone has apparently taken it upon themselves to sample the coffee every. single. day.
You know… for quality control.
It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. ☕️😎
Good coffee. Good bikes. Good days.
That’s the formula.
Thanks Jae! 🙌

2026 Bosch eBike Systems Dealer Training ⚡🚲
A great day adding a few more tools to the brain toolbox and expanding our service and product knowledge with the team at Bosch.
Bosch are industry leaders when it comes to eBike systems, and their dealer support is right up there too. More knowledge, better servicing, fewer breakdowns and, most importantly, a better riding experience for you!
Big thanks to Bosch for another top day of training. 👍
And yes… we definitely had our eye on the demo bike too! 😎🚲

🌸Meet Ruth! A local waste-free warrior in our community.🌸

So when her new cruiser arrived wrapped in a blanket instead of the usual mountain of plastic, we knew this bike had found its person. 😄

This wasn't a rushed decision either. There were plenty of test rides, lots of thinking, and making sure this was the one. And we reckon she nailed it!

Better yet, every Pink Cruiser sold sends $300 to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, so this purchase is doing even more good.

Go well, Ruth! We can't wait to see you (and that smile) cruising around town. 🚲🩷

We're stoked to have helped the North Otago Toy Library Oamaru add this gorgeous little Bobike balance bike to their fleet. A massive shout out to the Miller family too for their generous donation.
This little beauty is going to help plenty of future cyclists find their balance, build confidence, and probably convince Mum and Dad they need a "quick ride" every five minutes. 😄
The Toy Library does an amazing job for local families, so if you can, give their post a share or support them however you can.
Go well, little legends! 🚲💛

🌸 She's pretty.
🌸 She's practical.
🌸 She's pink.
And let's be honest... life's just a little bit more fun with a pink bike.
The Bionic Cruiser is designed to make every ride easy. With its super low step-through frame, hopping on and off is effortless, while the low centre of gravity gives you a stable, confidence-inspiring ride.
Whether you're cruising to the shops, meeting friends for coffee, or taking the scenic route home, this beauty is as comfortable as she is eye-catching.
Add Bionic's clever Sensordrive system and you've got smooth, natural power that feels just right from the moment you pedal.
💗 Pretty enough to turn heads.
💗 Practical enough to ride every day.
💗 Pink enough to make everyone else wish they'd been a little braver.
