Just wanted to take this time to say how proud we are of all our Lion Cub rugby league tamariki and their whanau for an awesome 2026 rugby league season all our tamariki deserved all they received yesterday at their prizegiving, what a tino ataahua day for the everyone 🤗🫡

Our Cubs journey started by the senior coach Dez 👆, after a senior training and speaking with the TRL chairman he reckons, " We need only 2 kids teams" then we are thinking who's gonna coach the teams? Dez reckons " the Hemaloto whanau & US 🥴, and there we have 4 teams 🤷‍♀️ it pretty much was who he said 🤣. Dez would be very proud and happy we continued his legacy for love and passion he had for rugby league and this club.

We would like to mihi to all the parents, caregivers, aunties, uncles, papa, nans, siblings and cuzzies, for showing up at every game on a Sunday of each week to support the tamariki, and also for getting the tamariki to their trainings 😁.
We would also like to the thank Mele Hemaloto, Shaqs, Vakalahi Tyrone Wihongi-Hemaloto and Sana for the awesome mahi you all did with our U6s and coaching 👆 awesome team work whanau.

Also a massive mihi to the senior lions players that came yesterday to help with set up and clean up, walking up & down those lindvart pavilion stairs, carrying that massive bbq 💪 and doing the cooking for our tamariki and their whanau ☺️❤️.

Hope all our whanau enjoyed their day yesterday 😉.

Sorry for the late one whanau, our Kaikohe Lions are traveling up north today to take on West Coast Raiders at Awanui Sports Complex 2.30pm kick off, if you feel like a cruise or just going for a drive come up and support our lions 🦁.

Today is a big day of rugby league for our Kaikohe Lions mens and our Kaikohe Lioness's womens both teams are playing today, the men will travel to Utakura home ground of the Hokianga Pioneers, and our Lioness's have their games at Kaikohe Rugby Football Club kicking off their first game at 11am against Otangarei Knights there will be some massive games played today for the valley, and our Lioness's den in Kaikohe, if your not up to much come along and support our women's in Kaikohe and our Lions in the valley and watch some rugby league. 😉

It's a beautiful day for it let's hope we have some ataahua weather up north. This week the pack is travelling light but we still going up north strong.

More awesome games on Sunday in Waipapa, thank you Kerikeri Mako Rugby League for hosting our mini mods on Sunday was such a beautiful day and the kids and whanau all turned up for our tamariki 😉😎.
What was noticed while walking around to each different game was how much all the tamariki has improved so much especially our Taiamai/Ohaeawai teams that have never entered kids into a mini mod rugby league module, awesome day, awesome vibes.
