This was the moment when the new East Stand was officially opened, marking the end of the Stadium Taranaki redevelopment project.

Thanks for everything Daisy, you will be missed.

It was with great sadness we learnt of the passing of long-serving councillor David “Daisy” Lean over the weekend.

Daisy was first elected to TRC in 1989, while also serving as New Plymouth mayor. He had a break from TRC between 1992 and 1995 but returned in 1995 and had remained a councillor ever since.

Daisy had a sharp intellect, the ability to pinpoint issues and find solutions and a genuine desire to make our region a better place. In recent years he has been a champion and a stalwart for the Stadium Taranaki redevelopment and he was so proud to see it completed.

Daisy’s strong advocacy for TRC’s work will leave a lasting impact on the organisation and the wider Taranaki community.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. Rest in peace Daisy.
