Bowls Taranaki

It's a silver medal for our representatives at the Bowls New Zealand National Champion of Champions Women's Triples. Briar Atkinson, Tina Atkinson-Watt and Jackie Moeahu representing Paritutu, played exceptionally well but on the final end lost out to a strong team from Stoke 14-16.

Our Coaches Association held a coaching session with some fun games and tips and tricks for new players yesterday at the Indoor Stadium. Ten first year players and eleven junior players attended. Thanks to Janice and Rhonda for their time and to Eddie, who also went over some basic laws and etiquette.

Get your team together for our first open tournament of the year, the Vic Blance Challenge on Sunday 27th September. All proceeds go to youth bowls around the province. Entries through our website.

Our Taranaki Under 26s side put up a mighty effort but qualified behind Auckland and in third place in their section. The semifinalists this year will feature Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and 'Nomads'. Thanks to everyone involved.

After 3 rounds our Under 26 side top an even section. One more round for them to play against Auckland and a bye before semifinalists are found. Canterbury and Wellington comfortably ahead in the other section.

Our Taranaki Under 26s have started well with a convincing win over Bay of Plenty, 15-12 in the triples and 18-10 in the pairs as they take on the rest of the country in the National Under 26s this weekend. Good luck to our side!

Taranaki Women took on Whanganui in a pre-season fixture this weekend. A good weekend with the Senior and Junior sides coming away with a win and opportunity to play different combinations. Our first fixture of the season starts early September against Waikato.

Our Coaches Association is putting on some free coaching for Junior 1-5yr players. If you're interested please register with them to take part. Session to be held Saturday 29th August.
