Amsterdam was on the agenda for the coaches but had to make the short trip over to Germany to watch the U23 World Championships, to watch Clay Potts in the men’s quad and former Clifton rower Madison Neale in the women’s quad! These 2 have worked so hard to get here and have done our club so proud! No matter what the results are, we know how much they have put into this campaign! And sometimes things don’t go according to plan but you can both hold your heads high! Also got to see the men’s 8 who got 2nd in their heat, so should be a great final! Amazing sights and very excited coaches!!

Second day of Henley. Had a day of catching up with ex Clifton rower Ella Toa who just so happened to win a gold for Great Britain in the quad (see what can be achieved just rowing for our small club) and got to watch the Olympic women’s double! Lucy Spoors and Brooke Francis! All the while wearing number ones, including the new Clifton caps given to Life members. Bucket list ticked off!

A couple of our coaches had a quick stop in at the Henley regatta today, pretty much once in a life time thing to do! It was definitely something to tick off the list! We also got the privilege to see Oliver Zeidler, the current Olympic single skills champion, race his single, as well as the talented young Aramoho Crew who narrowly missed out on progressing to the quarters and the Avon Women’s 8 who also missed out on the quarters. Also spied a very faded Clifton oar on display!! 🤭 Tomorrow will be an eye opener as the coaches put on their number ones and head into the Stewards lounge for a bit of a look around. Watch this space people!!
