💙 Meet Erin! 💙
Erin’s journey with Streamline first began back in 2019. Since then, life has included welcoming her own baby, continuing her competitive swimming, and finding her way back to teaching at Streamline — where she’s now a familiar face around the pool! 🏊♀️
Erin teaches swimmers across all ages and stages, with babies and squad being particular favourites.
One of her biggest passions is working alongside parents to teach babies and toddlers those all-important water safety life skills, helping both children and their parents build confidence and feel safer in and around the water.
She also loves the challenge of figuring out what makes each child tick — adapting her teaching to the individual child and helping them develop their skills through our play-based approach to learning.
And with her own competitive swimming background, she brings plenty of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to our squad swimmers too!
✨ Want to swim with Erin?
You’ll find her teaching Thursday afternoons, private lessons on Fridays, and Saturdays at Streamline.
We love having you as part of the team, Erin! 💙

🛟 SAFE POOL ENTRIES: LITTLE EYES ARE WATCHING
A gentle reminder to our Streamline families: every child in our facility—not only your own—is watching and learning from the adults around them.
By choosing a safe pool entry every time, we help protect everyone and model the habits we want our swimmers to learn.
👶 NON-MOBILE BABIES
Enter the water first, then bring baby in by:
• Placing them safely in the designated poolside position
• Passing them to the instructor in the water
• Asking a spectator to hold and pass them down to you
🧒 SEATED BABIES
Have your child wait safely on the pool edge or between the ladder rails. Enter first, then lift or guide them into the water.
🏊 TODDLERS
Enter first, then invite your toddler to use an appropriate submersion, half-turn entry or supported ladder entry.
🪜 USING THE LADDER
• Face the ladder and climb down backwards
• Use both handrails
• Maintain three points of contact
🔄 HALF-TURN ENTRY
• Sit with your feet in the water.
• Keep one hand firmly on the pool edge.
• Lower and turn your body so you finish facing the wall.
• Keep holding the edge until your feet are secure—or continue holding on if you cannot touch the bottom.
This is an important skill for our older swimmers too.
🚫 PLEASE DO NOT
• Carry a baby or child while using the ladder.
• Climb down facing away from the ladder.
• Use the ladder one-handed while carrying someone.
• Jump into the pool while holding a baby or child.
These are not considered safe entries and do not model the habits we want our swimmers to learn.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and consistent environment for every Streamline swimmer. If you’re unsure which entry to use, please ask your instructor—we’re always happy to help. 💙

🏊♀️ Holiday lessons have been in full swing these school holidays!
During the holidays, our swimmers have been building confidence and developing new skills across every level.
Our swimmers who were ready had the opportunity to explore a range of water safety and rescue skills, including learning how to use rescue tubes, practising self-rescue techniques, understanding reach rescues using pool equipment, and becoming familiar with life jackets in the water. These experiences help develop confidence, awareness and practical skills that could one day make a real difference.
A huge thank you to Joel and the team at East End Surf Life Saving Club for generously lending us their rescue tubes again. It was a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers to experience the same equipment used by surf lifeguards and add a real-world element to their learning.
We love seeing our local community come together to support our tamariki. Partnerships like these help us provide meaningful experiences and reinforce the importance of water safety in and around the water.
Well done to all of our holiday swimmers for embracing new challenges and giving everything a go. We hope you had as much fun learning these new skills as we did teaching them! 💙
