Ngā mihi o te Koanga !

I took this rad photo of some curled up fronds of a fern at my mate Steve’s house. Yesterday, he and I, and another friend walked through his maara (garden) speaking Māori and enjoying the cool evening vibes. It was SO BEAUTIFUL 😭😭

These wee fronds reminded me that when people come together in love, they are these curled up little fings that slowly unfurl over time, and open up to what is becoming. The choice to get married is simply a continuation of the journey of life thus far.

Nō reira, ehara te mārena i te tīmatanga, he wāhanga kē o te kōrero | Marriage is not the beginning, but rather a part of something greater.

What are your thoughts?

I went to the Celebrants Association AGM last night. We heard from the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages - Russell Burnard. Bro had a good as presentation full of interesting facts and information pertaining to this mahi. I was so locked in !

One of the things he pointed out were the fee increases which came into effect on 18 June 2026. So, with that in mind, please see some key info below, including future increases. There’s a PDF on the DIA website which outlines all the fees - these ones simply pertain to weddings.

Last month, I signed up to the Regional Business Network. Then, I was invited to speak to an Enterprise Advisor from Venture Taranaki. I was freaking out like “oh no my business is probably too little and insignificant for them to support me” but sis was so amazing in how she listened and empowered me. Ultimately, she created an action plan for the next steps in my journey. Check out her super accurate summary below:

“We discussed the importance of embracing and reflecting your Māori identity in your branding, which enables you to create a genuine connection between who you are, what you value, and how others experience your business to create a meaningful brand. This all works towards aligning your culture, values, and purpose, to trust, credibility and a strong sense of identity.”

So, while I don’t have the resources to invest in a ✨ full rebrand ✨, I did do some research into creating a new colour palette which reflects who I am now: natural, tau (settled), peaceful, ethereal and nostalgic.

So, in line with moving away from the vibrant, bubbly pinks I originally gravitated towards & grew to love…I’m excited to show off a couple of the colours from the new palette I created for the new era of RHCele!

I have a sage, a cream, a bronze, a pop of dusky rose and a sprinkle of lavender purple - because my maiden name is Rosalie Lavender.

I have refreshed my website, rhcelebrant.co.nz and am so proud of the new era I am stepping into.

My youngest daughter is 11, almost 12 and has just started up a side hustle as a wedding transport provider. The best driver in our family, she received a special licence from the Aa to provide this service !
